Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|

Grade A, and why
video scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
What it actually says
Generate a video from a text prompt.
Raw slash-command arguments:
$ARGUMENTS
How it works:
Grok CLI 1.0 has no text-to-video tool. Its media toolset is image_gen, image_edit, image_to_video, and reference_to_video. So this command runs two steps: it generates an opening frame with image_gen, then animates that frame with image_to_video. Both artefacts are saved — the still is the clip's first frame, and it is worth keeping.
Argument handling:
- Pass the prompt through verbatim.
--aspectapplies to both steps.--durationis in seconds.- If the user already has a still they want animated, use
/grok:animateinstead — it skips the generation step and animates their exact image.
Execution — this takes a few minutes, so prefer the background unless the user asked to wait:
Bash({
command: `node "${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/scripts/grok-companion.mjs" video $ARGUMENTS`,
description: "Grok video generation",
run_in_background: true
})
Foreground, when the user passed --wait or explicitly asked to wait:
node "${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/scripts/grok-companion.mjs" video $ARGUMENTS
Output rules:
- Relay the companion's output verbatim.
- You cannot view a video. Report the path and the file size; do not describe the motion or claim the clip looks right.
- If the run reports that xAI rejected the request under Zero Data Retention, relay that explanation as-is. It is an account setting, not a bug in the prompt, and retrying will fail identically — say so instead of trying again.
- A run that produced only the still frame is reported as incomplete. Do not present it as a finished video.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

video is a command published in the GitHub repository arielaizn/grok-plugin-cc (6 stars, last pushed 23d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 14 tokens to every session and 455 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
