doc-sync

doc-sync is a command for coding agents from arimxyer/doc-manager-mcp. It costs 6 tokens per session (416 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A workflow for finding code changes that may require documentation updates, assigning those updates, and checking the results.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to detect affected documentation, group files for a documentation writer, validate updates, assess their quality, and optionally update the project’s comparison baseline.
Why use it?
It helps keep documentation aligned with changing code and provides a review loop for fixing quality problems before finishing.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00006 $0.00416
Opus 5 $0.00003 $0.00208
Sonnet 5 $0.00001 $0.00083
Haiku 4.5 $0.00001 $0.00042

Measured 4d ago against content hash 2ff82279de92, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

doc-sync scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Documentation Sync Workflow

Synchronize documentation with code changes.

doc-expert agent Please run a documentation sync workflow.

Execute the full sync process:

  1. Detect Changes: Run docmgr_detect_changes with include_semantic=true to understand what changed
  2. Review Action Items: Use action_items and config_field_changes from output to prioritize work
  3. Analyze Impact: Identify which documentation files are affected
  4. Delegate Updates: If changes require documentation updates:
    • Batch changes into groups of 10-15 files
    • Delegate to doc-writer agent with specific guidance
    • Include platform context and conventions
  5. Validate: After doc-writer agent completes, validate the updates
  6. Assess Quality: Run quality assessment on updated documentation
  7. Feedback Loop: If quality issues found, provide feedback and iterate (max 3 iterations)
  8. Update Baseline: Once quality is acceptable, ask user if they want to update the baseline
    • If yes: run docmgr_sync mode="resync" or docmgr_update_baseline
    • If no: report completion without baseline update

Provide progress updates at each step and a final summary:

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

doc-sync is a command published in the GitHub repository arimxyer/doc-manager-mcp (6 stars, last pushed 7mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 6 tokens to every session and 416 once invoked, about $0.0000 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
