list

list is a command for coding agents from biznuts/never-stale. It costs 53 tokens per session (560 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A read-only command that finds projects enabled for never-stale, a setup that keeps a project’s related files current, including older leftover installations.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to audit projects under a directory, review team or local settings, find legacy installs, or locate projects before uninstalling the plugin.
Why use it?
It shows where the setup is enabled and flags outdated markers before you update or remove anything.

Command

Installs and runs on its own, but its text points at files inside its plugin — anything it tells you to read at a ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT} path is only there once the plugin is installed. Installing the plugin gets both.

Part of the never-stale plugin — 8 commands, 2 hooks shipped together

Getting it into your agent

One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

When invoked 560 The whole file, excluding the scripts and references it only reads on demand.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00053 $0.00560
Opus 5 $0.00026 $0.00280
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00112
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00056

Measured 3d ago against content hash ac22bd9bf508, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

list scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

never-stale — list opted-in projects

Enumerate every project on disk that is opted into never-stale (or carries legacy residue), so the user can find them all before uninstalling the plugin or to audit what is enabled. This command is read-only — it writes nothing.

  • Determine a search root: the path in $ARGUMENTS if given, else the current working directory. Call it <ROOT>.

  • Read the installed plugin version from ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/.claude-plugin/plugin.json (version); call it <PV>. (If it cannot be resolved, omit the drift column.)

  • Use Glob to find, under that root:

    • **/.claude/never-stale.json and **/.claude/never-stale.local.json (current opt-in markers);
    • **/.claude/hooks/never-stale-reminder.js (legacy v0.5.0 installs to migrate or remove).
  • For each match, read the marker (if any) and report: the project root, the scope (team/local), enabled state, recorded languages, the marker version, and whether it is current (marker) or legacy (reminder script). Group current vs legacy. Flag any marker whose version !== <PV> as stale (cosmetic — the gate ignores the version; /never-stale:update reconciles it), and note markers missing language codes or using a non-canonical language string.

  • Write nothing. End by reminding the user (in their spoken language) that, in any listed project, they can:

    • /never-stale:off to pause it (reversible) or /never-stale:on to resume,
    • /never-stale:update to reconcile stale versions + language codes across projects,
    • /never-stale:remove to delete the setup entirely,
    • /never-stale:status to inspect one project in detail;

and that /plugin uninstall never-stale@biznuts removes the hooks machine-wide, leaving only the inert markers + CLAUDE.md prose (which /never-stale:remove clears per project).

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

list is a command published in the GitHub repository biznuts/never-stale (2 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 53 tokens to every session and 560 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
