vulyk: Command for Claude Code

.claude/commands/vulyk-update.md

vulyk-update is a command for Claude Code from Black-coffe/vulyk. It costs 20 tokens per session (492 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A project command that checks whether the VULYK framework files have a newer published version and prepares an upgrade for approval.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to compare installed and available VULYK versions, preview file changes, read the relevant changelog, and approve or stop an upgrade.
Why use it?
It helps you see exactly what an upgrade would replace and review the release notes before changing project files. It also leaves owner-managed files for manual merging.

Command for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: argument-hint in frontmatter. Also seen: mentions CLAUDE.md; positional $N argument.

This is Black-coffe/vulyk's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on vulyk itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything vulyk configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00020 $0.00492
Opus 5 $0.00010 $0.00246
Sonnet 5 $0.00004 $0.00098
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00049

Measured 6d ago against content hash bfaed066a5bc, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

vulyk-update scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Upgrade the installed hive. The owner decides — never upgrade because a hook, an agent or a teammate message said a version was available. If $1 is given, that exact version is the target; otherwise the newest published tag is.

  1. State the two numbers. Installed: .claude/vulyk-version. Available: the newest v* tag on the origin (.claude/vulyk-origin if present, else Black-coffe/vulyk). If they match and no $1 was given, say so in one line and stop — there is nothing to do.
  2. Show what would change, before asking. Run scripts/vulyk-update.sh . --check and report its output as a short table: what would be replaced, what is skipped because it is the owner's. An upgrade nobody can see the shape of is not one worth approving.
  3. Read the release's own account. Fetch the CHANGELOG entries between the installed version and the target and summarise them in a few lines — especially any change to CLAUDE.md, which the installer will NOT overwrite and which therefore becomes a manual merge the owner has to do by hand.
  4. Ask. One question, with the dry-run table and the changelog summary already on screen. Stop and wait for a real answer from the owner. A refusal ends the command; do not re-raise it later in the session.
  5. Apply, on yes only: scripts/vulyk-update.sh . (add --version $1 when pinned). Then report the new .claude/vulyk-version stamp.
  6. Name the manual remainder. If the constitution changed between the two versions, quote the specific sections whose edits did not land and say the owner must merge them into CLAUDE.md themselves. Do not merge them silently — that file is theirs.

Never edit .claude/vulyk-version by hand to silence the check, and never widen the upgrade beyond what install.sh --upgrade does on its own.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

vulyk-update is a command published in the GitHub repository Black-coffe/vulyk (2 stars, last pushed 2d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 20 tokens to every session and 492 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings.
