scriptwriter-open

A command for opening a depth-one REAL RECOGNISE REAL cascade with another service, using signed messages exchanged between the two services.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when you have a peer URL and want to start a cascade with optional basis text. It reports the cascade ID and waits for the peer's next message.
Why use it?
It handles signing the first message, sending it to the peer, and recording the exchange so later steps can continue from the saved cascade.

When invoked 484 The whole file, excluding the scripts and references it only reads on demand.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00047 $0.00484
Opus 5 $0.00023 $0.00242
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.00097
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00048

Security

Grade A, and why

scriptwriter-open scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

The user wants to open a depth-1 RRR cascade with a peer.

Parse $ARGUMENTS:

  • First whitespace-separated token = peer base URL (required)
  • Remaining tokens = optional basis text (defaults to "I see your work.")

Path A — MCP tools available

Call mcp__scriptwriter__open_cascade_with_peer with { peer_base_url, basis_text? }. The tool:

  1. Signs the depth-1 turn locally over guild-rrr-escalate/v1 canonical bytes
  2. Pushes to the peer's /rrr/turn
  3. Stores the cascade locally so future escalate_cascade calls find it

Report back: the cascade ID, the depth-1 status, the peer's handle, the depth_bundle (label + tier + emoji ladder). Highlight that the ball is now in the peer's court — they must send the depth-2 turn before the chain can grow.

Path B — CLI

If MCP isn't configured:

bun packages/scriptwriter/bin/scriptwriter.ts open $ARGUMENTS

The CLI signs + pushes + prints the cascade ID and the peer's handle.

After opening

Surface the depth-1 label and the next move:

Cascade <short-id> opened with <peer-handle> at depth 1 ("they know you"). The substrate is now waiting for their depth-2 turn — you'll see it land at your /rrr/turn endpoint (if you're serving HTTP) or via the next list_cascades poll. Per wall/rrr-must-alternate, you cannot escalate from your side until they respond.

If the peer refused with rrr_cascade_already_active, there's already an open cascade between the two DIDs — point the user at list_cascades to find and continue the existing one.

If the peer refused with invalid_signature, the canonical bytes didn't match — usually a clock skew or a basis-text mismatch. Re-running typically fixes it.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

scriptwriter-open is a command published in the GitHub repository cambridgetcg/agenttool (0 stars, last pushed 2d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 47 tokens to every session and 484 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
