fx

fx is a command for Claude Code from CedricConday/xe-mcp. It costs 0 tokens per session (303 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A command for analysing currency exchange rates through Xe-related tools. It supports rates, recent history, volatility, send-time analysis, and currency conversion.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for checking a currency pair, reviewing its last 30 days, analysing volatility, finding a suggested send window, or converting an amount.
Why use it?
It gathers the relevant exchange-rate calculation from a short currency command instead of requiring separate tool calls.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00000 $0.00303
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00151
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00061
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00030

Measured 4d ago against content hash 3aa2627e6511, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

fx scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

/fx — FX Rate Analysis

Quick FX analysis using the xe-mcp tools. Usage:

/fx NZDUSD → current rate + 30d optimal send window
/fx NZDUSD vol → 30-day volatility analysis
/fx NZDUSD history → last 30 days of daily rates
/fx convert 1000 NZD USD → convert amount

Instructions

When this command is invoked, parse the argument and call the appropriate xe-mcp tool:

  • $ARGUMENTS is a currency pair (e.g. NZDUSD) → split into from=NZD, to=USD, then call get_rate AND optimal_send_window together and present both results.
  • $ARGUMENTS ends in vol → call volatility_analysis for the pair.
  • $ARGUMENTS ends in history → call get_historical_rates for the pair.
  • $ARGUMENTS starts with convert → parse convert AMOUNT FROM TO and call convert.

Present results in a clean, readable format. If the MCP server is not connected, explain how to add it:

claude mcp add xe-mcp node /path/to/xe-mcp/dist/index.js

No credentials needed — Frankfurter (ECB) data works out of the box. Set XE_ACCOUNT_ID and XE_API_KEY for Xe's live rates.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

fx is a command published in the GitHub repository CedricConday/xe-mcp (1 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 303 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
