agents-md-reconnaissance

agents-md-reconnaissance is a command for coding agents from CrypticSwarm/Swarmforge. It costs 15 tokens per session (330 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guided process for creating or updating an AGENTS.md file for a specific directory. AGENTS.md is a text file that tells coding agents how to work in that part of a codebase.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create, update, or audit directory-specific AGENTS.md files after examining the code, Git history, and current instructions.
Why use it?
It helps keep local coding instructions accurate and based on the directory’s actual files and history. It also checks whether an existing instruction file needs updating or review.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00015 $0.00330
Opus 5 $0.00008 $0.00165
Sonnet 5 $0.00003 $0.00066
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00033

Measured 4d ago against content hash 7ee014b1a688, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

agents-md-reconnaissance scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Activate the agents-md-reconnaissance skill before taking any other action.

Request: $ARGUMENTS

Expected arguments:

  • Target directory path (e.g., dashboard/backend, delivery/rtb_frontend)
  • Optional mode: create (default), audit, or update

If the target directory is missing or ambiguous, ask and stop.

Modes:

  • create -- Full 4-phase workflow (explore, stress-test, refine, review). Fails if AGENTS.md already exists at the target; suggest update instead.
  • update -- Phases 2-4 only (stress-test existing AGENTS.md, refine, review). Fails if no AGENTS.md exists; suggest create instead.
  • audit -- Phase 4 only (review pass on existing AGENTS.md). Fails if no AGENTS.md exists.

Current working tree: !git status --short

Target directory contents: !ls $1 2>/dev/null || echo "Directory not found"

Existing AGENTS.md at target (if any): !cat $1/AGENTS.md 2>/dev/null || echo "No AGENTS.md found"

Recent git history for target: !git log --oneline -20 -- $1/ 2>/dev/null || echo "No git history"

Validate inputs, then execute the appropriate phases per the skill workflow. Place the resulting AGENTS.md at <target-directory>/AGENTS.md.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
