What is it for?
Use it when preparing a patch, minor, or major release of Docsector Reader.
Why use it?
It turns the project's release checklist into a repeatable sequence and helps avoid missing version, documentation, validation, or publishing steps.

Command for GitHub Copilot

Written for GitHub Copilot: a Copilot chat mode or prompt.

This is docsector/docsector-reader's own configuration. It tells GitHub Copilot how to work on docsector-reader itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything docsector-reader configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00020 $0.00689
Opus 5.5 $0.00008 $0.00276
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00004 $0.00138
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00069

Measured 1mo ago against content hash 820402934b4d, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

release-doc scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Release Docsector Reader

Steps

  1. Review changes since last release

    • Run git log $(git describe --tags --abbrev=0)..HEAD --oneline to list all commits since the last tag.
    • Identify new features, fixes, and breaking changes.
  2. Update bin/docsector.js VERSION constant

    • Update the VERSION constant (hardcoded at the top of the file) to match the new release version.
  3. Validate the scaffold

    • Check if scaffold compiles successfully with the new version: npx docsector build
    • Run tests to ensure stability: npx vitest run
  4. Update README.md

    • Add any new features to the ✨ Features section that were implemented since the last release.
    • Keep the existing style: emoji + bold title + dash + description.
    • Only update if necessary to reflect new features or changes in the release. Do not remove existing features from the README.
  5. Bump version with npm version in the docsector-reader project root

    • For a patch release (bug fixes): npm version patch --no-git-tag-version
    • For a minor release (new features, no breaking changes): npm version minor --no-git-tag-version
    • For a major release (breaking changes): npm version major --no-git-tag-version
  6. Commit, tag and push

    • Stage all changed files: git add -A
    • Commit with message: release: vX.Y.Z
    • Create a git tag: git tag vX.Y.Z
    • Push commits and tags: git push && git push --tags
  7. Create GitHub Release

    • Language rule: the release title and body must be written in English.
    • Scope rule: release notes must describe only docsector-reader changes.
    • Include a ## Changes section and decorate bullet points with emojis.
    • Build release notes from README additions and recent commits.
    • Suggested notes template:
      > Focus: Short release summary in English.

      ## Changes
      - ✨ Added ...
      - 🛠️ Fixed ...
      - 📚 Updated docs ...
      - ✅ Validated ...

    • Create or update release using a notes file:
      gh release create vX.Y.Z --title "vX.Y.Z" --notes-file /tmp/docsector-release-vX.Y.Z.md

      gh release edit vX.Y.Z --title "vX.Y.Z" --notes-file /tmp/docsector-release-vX.Y.Z.md

    • Confirm release URL:
      gh release view vX.Y.Z --json url --jq .url
         ```
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
