stats

A command that summarizes saved conversation files by count, size, format, and month.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for reviewing the number and size of Markdown, text, and HTML conversation files in the configured save directory.
Why use it?
It saves you from checking each saved file individually to understand what is stored.

One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

When invoked 620 The whole file, excluding the scripts and references it only reads on demand.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00006 $0.00620
Opus 5 $0.00003 $0.00310
Sonnet 5 $0.00001 $0.00124
Haiku 4.5 $0.00001 $0.00062

Measured yesterday against content hash 408d742d8bd1, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

stats scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Task

Display statistics about saved conversation files in the save directory.

User arguments: $ARGUMENTS

Step 0: Load Settings

Load settings from .claude/chat-saver.local.md following ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/skills/conversation-export/references/settings-loading.md. Extract: save_dir.

Step 1: Scan Directory

  1. Use Glob to find all conversation files in <save_dir>:
    <save_dir>/*.md
    <save_dir>/*.txt
    <save_dir>/*.html

  2. If no files are found, inform the user that no saved conversations exist and exit

Step 2: Collect Statistics

For each file found:

  1. Determine the format from the file extension (.md → Markdown, .txt → Plain Text, .html → HTML)
  2. Get the file size using du -h or ls -lh
  3. Extract the month from the filename date prefix (YYYY-MM)

Aggregate:

  • Total files — Count of all files
  • Total size — Combined size of all files (use du -sh <save_dir> or sum individual sizes)
  • By format — Count and combined size per format (Markdown, HTML, Plain Text)
  • By month — Count per month based on filename date prefix
  • Latest file — Most recently dated file (by filename)
  • Oldest file — Earliest dated file (by filename)

Step 3: Display Statistics

Present the statistics in a clean, readable format:

Chat-Saver Statistics (<save_dir>)

  Total files: 12
  Total size: 148K

  By format:
    Markdown: 8 files (102K)
    HTML: 3 files (42K)
    Plain Text: 1 file (4K)

  By month:
    2024-01: 5 files
    2024-02: 7 files

  Latest: 2024-02-08-chat-saver-iteration.md
  Oldest: 2024-01-03-project-setup.md

Notes:

  • Use singular "file" when count is 1, plural "files" otherwise
  • Sort months chronologically (oldest first)
  • Omit "By format" rows for formats with 0 files
  • If all files are the same format, still show the "By format" section for consistency

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

stats is a command published in the GitHub repository DropFan/claude-code-plugins (7 stars, last pushed 26d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 6 tokens to every session and 620 once invoked, about $0.0000 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
