gallery

gallery is a command for coding agents from erhangundogan/videre. It costs 25 tokens per session (582 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A local web interface for browsing a scanned personal library of files, the people identified in them, and dates.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to browse all files, review similar items, inspect duplicate groups, name face groups, and drill down by year, month, or day.
Why use it?
It lets you inspect the library visually, find duplicate files, and navigate by person or date without uploading data or changing the database.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00025 $0.00582
Opus 5 $0.00013 $0.00291
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00116
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00058

Measured 4d ago against content hash 83909271d43b, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

gallery scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 64 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Starts a small web server on your own machine and opens your library in a browser. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is written: it reads the database videre scan built.

videre gallery # http://127.0.0.1:7878
videre gallery --browse # ...and open it in your browser
videre gallery --port 8080 # if 7878 is taken

Stop it with Ctrl-C.

What is on each page

Path What you get
/ Every file, with a Similar button on each card
/duplicates Duplicate groups, the same review dedupe --html writes
/people Face groups, and naming them
/date A Year / Month / Day drill-down
/map Reserved, not built yet
/events Reserved, not built yet
/smart Reserved, not built yet

Files, Duplicates, Date and People sit in a strip along the top of every page, so you switch between them without touching the address bar. The reserved routes are deliberately not in it; each one appears when it renders something.

They link to each other in smaller ways too, which is the point of serving them together: a face in the gallery is clickable through to that person's page, and a photo's location is resolved to a place name while you look at it. Neither works in a file you open from disk, because both need something running to answer.

Options

Flag What it does
--db <DB> SQLite database (default: resolved from ~/.videre)
--model <MODEL> Embedding model backing similarity search
--port <PORT> Port to listen on (default 7878)
--browse Open a browser once the server is listening

gallery is for looking around, and writes nothing. When you want to keep or send what a command just found, ask that command for it:

videre dedupe --html # the duplicate groups, as a file
videre search "sunset" --html # these results, as a file

Those write a page you can open later without videre running.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

gallery is a command published in the GitHub repository erhangundogan/videre (2 stars, last pushed 6d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 25 tokens to every session and 582 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
