clear-init

clear-init is a command for coding agents from eugeniughelbur/clearmode. It costs 43 tokens per session (315 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A setup command that installs the CLEAR-100 writing rules into the instruction files or Vale configuration a project already uses. It can also offer a CI gate, which checks writing during automated project tests.

In plain words
What is it for?
Setting up CLEAR-100 in AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, Cursor rules, or Vale; updating existing marked sections; and optionally adding a Markdown check to GitHub Actions.
Why use it?
It gives coding agents and automated checks one shared writing standard while protecting unrelated file content and avoiding duplicate changes.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00043 $0.00315
Opus 5 $0.00022 $0.00158
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.00063
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00032

Security

Grade A, and why

clear-init scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

/clear-init

Wire the standard into wherever this project's agents read from.

Steps

  1. Detect what is already here:
    • AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, .cursor/rules/, .vale.ini, .github/workflows/
  2. For each one found, install the matching target from targets/. Insert between the <!-- CLEAR-100 begin --> and <!-- CLEAR-100 end --> markers. If the markers are already there, replace what is between them and change nothing else.
  3. If nothing is found, create AGENTS.md with the block, and a one-line CLAUDE.md that reads @AGENTS.md.
  4. Offer the CI gate. Do not add it without a yes:
    - run: python3 scripts/clearcheck.py $(git diff --name-only origin/main -- '*.md') --gate 80

  5. Print what you touched, one line per file.

Rules

  • Idempotent. Running twice changes nothing the second time.
  • Never overwrite a file outside the markers.
  • Never edit a generated target by hand. Change rules/clear-100.json and run python3 scripts/compile_targets.py.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
