setup-copilot

setup-copilot is a command for Claude Code from Everyone-Needs-A-Copilot/claude-copilot. It costs 24 tokens per session (332 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A setup command that detects whether a project already has Claude Copilot files and routes the request to the matching setup or update flow. It can also select a minimal setup when the request asks for one.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to set up Claude Copilot in a new project, update an existing project, or create a minimal memory-only setup when requested.
Why use it?
It removes the need to decide manually which setup command applies to the current folder and whether the project is new or already configured.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00024 $0.00332
Opus 5 $0.00012 $0.00166
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00066
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00033

Measured yesterday against content hash 7153a6d0a42b, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

setup-copilot scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Universal Setup Router

Auto-detects your context and runs the correct setup command.

Step 1: Detect Context

pwd
if [ -d .claude ] && { ls .claude/commands/*.md >/dev/null 2>&1 || ls .claude/agents/*.md >/dev/null 2>&1; }; then
  echo "PROJECT_EXISTS"
else
  echo "NEW_PROJECT"
fi
echo $HOME

Store: CURRENT_DIR, HOME_PATH, PROJECT_STATUS (PROJECT_EXISTS or NEW_PROJECT)

Check user's message for keywords: "minimal", "quick start", "memory only", "simple", "fast" If found, set MINIMAL_REQUESTED = true.

Step 2: Route

If CURRENT_DIR ends with /.claude/copilot:

Tell user: "Detected: Claude Copilot directory. Running machine setup." Follow /setup command.

Else if PROJECT_STATUS = "PROJECT_EXISTS":

Tell user: "Detected: Existing project (.claude/ framework files found). Running project update." Follow /update-project command.

Else if MINIMAL_REQUESTED:

Tell user: "Detected: New project. Running minimal (memory-only) setup." Follow /setup-project command (the minimal keywords will trigger its minimal flow).

Else:

Tell user: "Detected: New project. Running full project setup." Follow /setup-project command.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
