instinct-import

instinct-import is a command for Claude Code from felvieira/claude-skills-fv. It costs 20 tokens per session (426 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A command for importing a JSON bundle of learned coding practices into a project or shared configuration. These practices are stored as files under a learned-skills directory.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it with a bundle created by the matching export command. It imports the bundle into the current project or global configuration and reports how many items were imported or skipped.
Why use it?
It avoids copying each practice by hand when moving to another computer, restoring a backup, or starting a new repository. Existing practices can be skipped or replaced when names match.

Command for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: argument-hint in frontmatter. Also seen: reads .claude/ paths.

Needs its repository: it runs a file that does not travel with it, so clone the repository first. The line is node scripts/instinct.mjs import ./instincts-bundle.json --scope=project.

Getting it into your agent

It runs from inside its repository, so the clone comes first — what it calls does not travel with the file alone.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00020 $0.00426
Opus 5 $0.00010 $0.00213
Sonnet 5 $0.00004 $0.00085
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00043

Measured 12d ago against content hash 5786c579a6b2, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-11, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

instinct-import scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

/instinct-import — Trazer Instincts pra Cá

Objetivo: Importar bundle JSON gerado por /instinct-export pra .bot/learned-skills/ do repo atual (ou global).

Quando usar:

  • após /instinct-export em outra máquina/projeto
  • restore de backup
  • aplicar instincts curadas por outra pessoa do time
  • bootstrap de repo novo com instincts pré-validados

Quando NÃO usar:

  • importar 1 arquivo .md — copia direto
  • ainda não tem o bundle JSON (rode /instinct-export primeiro)

Inputs:

  • <in.json> (obrigatório) — bundle no formato exportado pela skill

Comando real:

node scripts/instinct.mjs import ./instincts-bundle.json --scope=project
# overwrite:
node scripts/instinct.mjs import ./instincts-bundle.json --overwrite

Cross-refs: /instinct-export, /instinct-promote, policies/memory-tiers.md.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
