nodes

nodes is a command for Claude Code from gotempsh/temps. It costs 0 tokens per session (2,159 once invoked), scanned D, original, Apache-2.0.

A command-line interface for checking worker nodes and where workloads can run. Worker nodes are computers that can execute jobs for a system.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to check workload-running capability and get the result as JSON when needed.
Why use it?
It shows whether any local or connected computer can run a workload before a deployment is queued.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.02159
Opus 5.5 $0.00000 $0.00864
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00000 $0.00432
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00216

Security

Grade D, and why

nodes scanned grade D with 2 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Asks for rootmediumPrivilege escalation

A mod that escalates privileges can change anything on the machine, not only the project.

| `--user <user>` | User to log in as: root, or a user with sudo | `root` | No |

Reaches for credential fileshighPrivilege escalation

SSH keys, cloud credentials, git-credentials, .npmrc, /etc/shadow: reading these is how a config file becomes a credential leak.

| `--passphrase-stdin` | Read the private key passphrase from stdin (not with --password-stdin) | - | No |

nodes

Worker nodes and workload placement

Subcommands:

  • capability - Show whether this install can run workloads at all — local workloads plus joined worker nodes — so a deploy that could never be scheduled is visible before it is queued
  • mesh - WireGuard mesh: lets nodes that only share the internet with the control plane join it, encrypted. Shows whether it is on and how each node is connected
  • pair - Pair nodes this control plane dials: for a control plane nodes cannot reach (a laptop, a server behind NAT). Lists recent pairings and their progress
  • ssh - Add servers over SSH: the control plane logs in, installs temps if needed, pairs the server and starts its agent. Lists recent ones and their progress

nodes capability

Show whether this install can run workloads at all — local workloads plus joined worker nodes — so a deploy that could never be scheduled is visible before it is queued

Options:

Flag Description Default Required
--json Output in JSON format - No

nodes mesh

WireGuard mesh: lets nodes that only share the internet with the control plane join it, encrypted. Shows whether it is on and how each node is connected

Options:

Flag Description Default Required
--json Output in JSON format - No

Subcommands:

  • enable - Turn the WireGuard mesh on. The control plane and every agent move onto it within a minute; it cannot be turned off again
  • hub - Mesh hub: a member that relays between members that cannot reach each other (two nodes behind NAT). Shows the hub and every pair it carries
  • doctor - Check the mesh from the control plane: its end, every node link and every pairing in progress, each failure with what fixes it. Exits 1 when a check fails. For a node's own end, run temps doctor mesh on it

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

nodes is a command published in the GitHub repository gotempsh/temps (848 stars, last pushed today), licensed Apache-2.0. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 2,159 tokens. A static security scan graded it D with 2 findings (asks for root, reaches for credential files). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-21.
