local-leads

local-leads is a command for Claude Code, Cursor from HasData/google-maps-mcp. It costs 16 tokens per session (240 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A lead-list command finds local businesses in Google Maps and returns their contact details. A lead is a potential customer or business contact.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for building a table of businesses in a chosen category and city, sorted by review count, with names, addresses, phones, websites and related listing data.
Why use it?
It avoids collecting business names by hand and removes listings that have neither a phone number nor a website.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00016 $0.00240
Opus 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00096
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00003 $0.00048
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00024

Security

Grade A, and why

local-leads scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 23d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Build a lead list of local businesses.

Ask me for the category and the city if I have not given them, and for how many rows I want. Twenty is a sensible default.

Then:

  1. Call hasdata_google_maps_search_performMapSearch with q written the way a person types it into Maps, such as dentists in Portland, Oregon. Page with start until you have the count I asked for.
  2. For each result keep name, address, phone, website, rating, review count and placeId.
  3. Drop entries with no phone and no website, and say how many you dropped. A lead with neither is not a lead.
  4. Sort by review count so the established ones come first, unless I asked for something else.
  5. Hand back a table, and note which places have no website at all. That gap is usually the reason someone asked.

Stay inside what the search returns. Do not open place details for every row unless I ask, because that is one call per business and the cost adds up.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

local-leads is a command published in the GitHub repository HasData/google-maps-mcp (6 stars, last pushed 4d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 16 tokens to every session and 240 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-23.
