Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00009 $0.00215
Opus 5 $0.00005 $0.00108
Sonnet 5 $0.00002 $0.00043
Haiku 4.5 $0.00001 $0.00021

Measured 7d ago against content hash f62c73691b99, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade C, and why

news-stop scanned grade C with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Recursive force deletehighDestructive command

rm -rf with a variable or a broad path is one typo away from removing the wrong tree.

- "To delete all data and config: `rm -rf <data-dir>/`"

What it actually says

You are helping the user clean up herald data.

Steps

  1. Find data directory and check status:
    cd "${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}" && PYTHONPATH=. python3 -c "from herald.cli import _default_data_dir; print(_default_data_dir())"

    (Defaults to ~/.local/share/herald/; use --data-dir or HERALD_DATA_DIR to override.)
cd "${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}" && PYTHONPATH=. python3 -m herald.cli status 2>/dev/null
  1. Show cleanup options (use the data directory path from step 1):

    • "To delete all data and config: rm -rf <data-dir>/"
    • "To re-initialize: run /news-init"
  2. Do NOT delete data automatically. The user decides.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

news-stop is a command published in the GitHub repository heurema/herald (4 stars, last pushed 5mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 9 tokens to every session and 215 once invoked, about $0.0000 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it C with 1 finding (recursive force delete).
