In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to discuss the overall research status or a chosen topic, optionally specifying the output language.
Why use it?
It lets the discussion use the project’s existing research material instead of relying only on the current chat.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.00630
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00315
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00126
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00063

Measured 11d ago against content hash 3dd56a7d7169, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-11, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

discuss scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

/discuss — Research Discussion Mode

Loads research logs and architecture documents into context and starts a research discussion.

Usage

/discuss # discussion based on overall research status
<!-- PROJECT_INLINE_START -->
/discuss <topic> # in-depth discussion on a specific topic
<!-- PROJECT_INLINE_END -->
/discuss <topic> lang=en # discussion in a specific language

Procedure

Perform the steps below in order.

Step 1: Check and Build Context Cache

Check the research/chat/.context_cache/manifest.json file:

  • If file doesn't exist: run python research/chat/build_context.py (if the script exists)
  • If file exists: check if built_at field is within 1 hour
    • If older than 1 hour: run python research/chat/build_context.py
    • If within 1 hour: use existing cache
  • If script doesn't exist: directly Read research/README.md and recent research/logs/ files

Step 2: Load Context

Read the following files:

  1. research/chat/.context_cache/context_summary.md (if exists) — research summary context
  2. research/CLAUDE.md (if exists) — research notes operating rules
  3. .claude/prompts/discuss-system.md — discussion mode behavior rules

If context_summary.md doesn't exist:

  • research/README.md — research status summary
  • 2-3 most recent daily research/logs/ log.md files

Step 3: Additional Topic-Specific Load (optional)

Based on $ARGUMENTS, Read relevant documents from research/topics/<topic>/ folder:

  • architecture files, experiment_log files, log.md, etc.
  • If no argument, start discussion based on overall status without additional loading

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 630 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
