test

test is a command for Claude Code from jesus-seijas-sp/claude-node-setup. It costs 0 tokens per session (403 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A test-running command for Node.js projects. It runs all tests, a test file, or tests whose names match a supplied pattern, then summarizes passes, failures, skipped tests, and errors.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to check the whole project, one test file, or a specific feature's tests.
Why use it?
It saves you from interpreting the full test output and points to the file and line for each failure.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00000 $0.00403
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00201
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00081
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00040

Measured 4d ago against content hash 67e52cbf711a, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

test scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Run tests for a specific feature or pattern and summarize the results.

Arguments

  • $ARGUMENTS — feature name or test name pattern (optional). If omitted, runs all tests.

Steps

  1. Determine the test command:

    • If $ARGUMENTS is empty, run all tests:

      npm test

    • If $ARGUMENTS looks like a file path (contains / or .js), run that file directly:

      node --test $ARGUMENTS

    • Otherwise treat it as a name pattern and run:

      node --test --test-name-pattern "$ARGUMENTS"

  2. Capture the full output.

  3. Parse the results and produce a summary:

TEST RESULTS — <feature or "all tests">
=========================================

✅ Passed: 12
❌ Failed: 2
⏭️ Skipped: 1
Duration: 0.43s

FAILURES:
✗ POST /users — should return 400 for missing email
    at test/features/users/users.router.test.js:58
    AssertionError: expected 400, got 200

✗ GET /users/:id — should return 404 for unknown id
    at test/features/users/users.router.test.js:91
    AssertionError: expected 404, got 500
  1. If all tests pass:
✅ All X tests passed.
  1. If there are failures, point to the exact file and line number for each, and briefly describe what assertion failed to help the user navigate directly to the issue.

Rules

  • Never modify test files or source files.
  • If the test command exits with an error before running any tests (e.g. syntax error, missing file), report the raw error clearly.
  • Do not retry failing tests automatically.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

test is a command published in the GitHub repository jesus-seijas-sp/claude-node-setup (10 stars, last pushed 5mo ago), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 403 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
