In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to import a session from a repository or a cloned project, then resume it with Claude Code.
Why use it?
It lets you continue work moved from another environment without manually rebuilding the session. It also creates a recovery snapshot before importing.

Written for Claude Code: $ARGUMENTS substitution. Also seen: reads .claude/ paths; mentions CLAUDE.md; mentions Claude Code.

This is jimmc414/cctrace's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on cctrace itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything cctrace configures →

Needs its repository: it reads a path above its own folder, which exists only inside the repository. The line is /import-session ../other-project/.claude-sessions/exported/.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00010 $0.00330
Opus 5.5 $0.00004 $0.00132
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00002 $0.00066
Haiku 4.5 $0.00001 $0.00033

Security

Grade A, and why

import-session scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Import a session from a cctrace export directory. This allows resuming sessions that were exported from another environment.

Usage

/import-session <export-path>

Where <export-path> is the path to a .claude-sessions/<name>/ directory.

What This Does

  1. Validates the export has a valid .cctrace-manifest.json
  2. Creates a pre-import snapshot for recovery
  3. Generates a new session ID (avoids conflicts)
  4. Imports the session file to ~/.claude/projects/<normalized-path>/
  5. Imports auxiliary files (file-history, todos, plan)
  6. Imports config files (commands, skills, hooks, agents, rules)
  7. Adds import context note to CLAUDE.md

Examples

Import a session from the current repo:

/import-session .claude-sessions/my-session/

Import from a cloned repo:

/import-session ../other-project/.claude-sessions/exported/

After Import

Continue the session with:

claude -c

If something goes wrong, restore with:

/restore-backup

Implementation

Run the import tool:

python3 import_session.py "$ARGUMENTS" --non-interactive

If no arguments provided, list available exports:

ls -la .claude-sessions/ 2>/dev/null || echo "No .claude-sessions/ directory found"
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
