trading-ops: Command for Claude Code

.claude/commands/scan-macro.md

scan-macro is a command for Claude Code from l3lackcurtains/trading-ops. It costs 15 tokens per session (731 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A command that reviews broad economic conditions and market trends, such as stock indexes, volatility, the dollar, interest rates, inflation, employment, and central-bank decisions. It saves the resulting macro or market-regime report in a specified file.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create an updated macro scan with a summary, key data gauges, market interpretation, bias, and scenario triggers. It also archives the prior report and follows the repository's scanning instructions.
Why use it?
It provides a repeatable way to compare current economic signals with the previous scan and track whether expected events or warning triggers occurred.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00015 $0.00731
Opus 5 $0.00008 $0.00365
Sonnet 5 $0.00003 $0.00146
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00073

Security

Grade A, and why

scan-macro scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Run a macro / regime scan.

Protocol in guide/scan/. Read structure.md, data.md, style.md before starting if not loaded.

Steps

  1. Read-before-scan per protocol.md — read prior scanned/MACRO/current.md fully. Capture prior quadrant, key gauges, scenario tree, and any "watch for" triggers. Identify if prior triggers fired (NFP / CPI / FOMC dates passed).

  2. Rotate prior scanned/MACRO/current.md to scanned/MACRO/archive/<prior-scan-date>.md and prune per protocol.md § Retention policy.

  3. Pull macro data per data.md — one source per gauge:

    • SPX / NDX / Russell — TradingView or MarketWatch
    • VIX — Cboe / TradingEconomics
    • CNN F&G — cnn.com/markets/fear-and-greed
    • DXY — TradingEconomics / Investing
    • 10Y / 2Y / curve — FRED (US10Y, US02Y) or Treasury.gov
    • Fed funds + dot plot — Federal Reserve / CNBC FOMC summary
    • CPI / PCE / NFP / GDPNow — BLS / BEA / Atlanta Fed
    • Recent prints — WebSearch for <event> <month> <year>

    No-duplication rule applies (data.md).

  4. Run framework per docs/macro.md — sections in order:

    • TL;DR (quadrant + index-tape read + bias)
    • Key gauges table
    • Macro pillars (Growth × Inflation × Liquidity)
    • Quadrant placement + best/worst assets
    • Index-tape read (W/D of SPX or NDX — trend, MA structure, key levels)
    • Context modifiers (rate cycle, geopolitics, anchoring, election)
    • Bubble / fragility flags — per docs/macro.md § Bubble indicators: Buffett Indicator with bands (75–90% reasonable, >120% overvalued, >146% pre-dot-com peak), margin debt / GDP trend, Mag-7 concentration, equal-weight (RSP) vs cap-weighted (SPY), AI capex contribution to GDP.
    • NDX/SPX scenario tree (3 scenarios with prob + targets)
    • Sector preferences (favored / underweight)
    • Catalysts watch list (next 30 days)
    • Trade framework
    • Sources
  5. Optional charts — if a chart capture is useful, save to scanned/MACRO/charts/ and embed inline.

  6. Δ marker if the regime / quadrant / scenario probabilities changed since prior scan. See structure.md.

  7. Save to scanned/MACRO/current.md, dated today.

  8. Update scanned/INDEX.md Macro / Indices / FX section with new quadrant + key bias note. MACRO doesn't get Pos/Swing/Day tiers (it's a tracker, not a tradeable name).

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

It adds 15 tokens to every session and 731 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
