paper-cranes: Command for Claude Code

.claude/commands/short.md

short is a command for Claude Code from loqwai/paper-cranes. It costs 10 tokens per session (383 once invoked), scanned A, original, BSD-3-Clause.

A command that saves a long web address under a shorter path on 2cb.pw using Cloudflare KV, a hosted key-value storage service. It can generate a random short code or use one you provide.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create and check short links, with either an automatically generated code or a custom slug.
Why use it?
It avoids manually managing URL mappings and verifies that the saved short link points to the original address.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00010 $0.00383
Opus 5.5 $0.00004 $0.00153
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00002 $0.00077
Haiku 4.5 $0.00001 $0.00038

Measured 11d ago against content hash fee028215a17, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

short scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Create a short URL on 2cb.pw using the Cloudflare KV store directly via wrangler.

Input

$ARGUMENTS contains the long URL to shorten, and optionally a custom slug.

Formats:

  • https://example.com/long/path — auto-generate a short slug
  • https://example.com/long/path myslug — use "myslug" as the short URL
  • myslug https://example.com/long/path — also works (detect which is the URL)

Steps

  1. Parse $ARGUMENTS to extract the long URL and optional slug. The URL is whichever argument looks like a URL (contains :// or .). The other argument (if present) is the slug.

  2. If no slug was provided, generate a short random one (4-6 lowercase alphanumeric characters). Use:

    python3 -c "import random, string; print(''.join(random.choices(string.ascii_lowercase + string.digits, k=5)))"

  3. Write the mapping to Cloudflare KV using wrangler from the url-shortener project directory:

    npx wrangler kv key put --namespace-id e239df04697f45d78631c29760c1a5b9 "$SLUG" "$LONG_URL"

  4. Verify it works:

npx wrangler kv key get --namespace-id e239df04697f45d78631c29760c1a5b9 "$SLUG"

  5. Tell the user their short link: https://2cb.pw/$SLUG → $LONG_URL

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

short is a command published in the GitHub repository loqwai/paper-cranes (7 stars, last pushed 3d ago), licensed BSD-3-Clause. It adds 10 tokens to every session and 383 once invoked, about $0.0000 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-02.
