voice-settings

voice-settings is a command for coding agents from michael-L-i/cadence-code. It costs 6 tokens per session (374 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A command for choosing Cadence Code’s local text-to-speech and speech-to-text models. It changes model selection but does not start a voice conversation or request microphone access.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to view current models, choose text-to-speech and speech-to-text options, see their tiers and download sizes, and save the selected configuration.
Why use it?
It lets users compare available speech models and change the voice setup with confirmation when an active session would be affected.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00006 $0.00374
Opus 5 $0.00003 $0.00187
Sonnet 5 $0.00001 $0.00075
Haiku 4.5 $0.00001 $0.00037

Measured 4d ago against content hash d333a597969d, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

voice-settings scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Open Cadence Code Settings. This command changes local TTS and STT model selection only; it does not start a voice conversation, request microphone access, or download models.

  1. Call mcp__cadence-code__voice_status.
  2. If ready is true, explain that changing models ends the active Cadence Code session. Ask for confirmation using Claude Code's structured question UI. If the user confirms, call mcp__cadence-code__voice_stop; otherwise end without changing settings.
  3. Call mcp__cadence-code__voice_models. Present separate TTS and STT single-choice selectors using Claude Code's structured question UI. The structured UI starts on the first listed option, so list the ID from current first with "(Current)" appended to its label — or the matching defaults entry when an existing custom model is not in the catalog — then the remaining options lightest to heaviest, appending "(Recommended)" to the defaults entry when it is not the current one. Each choice must show its tier, download size, and short description.
  4. If the user cancels either selector, end without changing settings. Otherwise call mcp__cadence-code__voice_configure with the chosen TTS and STT IDs.
  5. Report the selected labels and say the models download when Start Talking next runs. Do not call mcp__cadence-code__voice_start, voice_speak, or voice_listen from settings. Remind the user that changing models keeps old cached weights until they remove them through the Hugging Face cache tools.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
