RPG-AI-tutor: Command for Claude Code

.claude/commands/story.md

story is a command for Claude Code from mistwire/RPG-AI-tutor. It costs 17 tokens per session (235 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A command that maintains an ongoing story for a learning or role-playing project. It reads character and story files, creates a starting storyline when needed, or summarizes the current plot when one already exists.

In plain words
What is it for?
Starting a genre-based story, recapping the latest events, tracking current story arcs, and connecting story progress to character-sheet topics.
Why use it?
It keeps story continuity across sessions without making the user reread the entire chronicle. It also points out which subject is closest to ranking up.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00017 $0.00235
Opus 5.5 $0.00007 $0.00094
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00003 $0.00047
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00023

Measured 2mo ago against content hash 8c818700aa4d, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

story scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

  1. Read character-sheet/story.md.
  2. If it's blank/no genre set: offer the genre menu from CLAUDE.md's "The ongoing storyline" section (Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Thriller, Mystery, Heist, Post-Apocalyptic, Western, "surprise me", or skip). If they pick one, generate the story skeleton exactly as /start-quest would — premise, setting, character role, throughline, and one arc per existing subtopic from character-sheet/character-sheet.md — then set character-sheet.md's genre field to match and give them the opening scene.
  3. If a storyline is already active: give a punchy "previously on..." recap — premise, current arc(s) in progress, and the most recent story beat from the chronicle. Don't just dump the whole chronicle verbatim; summarize it like a real recap would.
  4. Mention which subtopic they're closest to ranking up in, since that's likely to trigger the next story beat.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
