collection-update-cmd

collection-update-cmd is a command for coding agents from ramonclaudio/skills. It costs 24 tokens per session (347 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A command for setting or changing the shell command that runs before updating an existing qmd collection, which is a searchable indexed copy of a repository or notes folder.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to configure commands such as fast-forward pulls, rebase pulls with stashing, or no preparation command for a collection.
Why use it?
It avoids manually preparing each collection before re-indexing, such as pulling the latest Git changes. A failing preparation command stops the update so later collections are not processed.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00024 $0.00347
Opus 5 $0.00012 $0.00173
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00069
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00035

Security

Grade A, and why

collection-update-cmd scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Run qmd collection update-cmd $ARGUMENTS (alias: qmd collection set-update).

The command is stored in the collection's update: field in ${XDG_CONFIG_HOME:-~/.config}/qmd/index.yml and runs before every qmd update for that collection. The most common use case is git pull --ff-only, but it accepts any shell command.

The /qmd:add SKILL writes this once at clone time. Use /qmd:collection-update-cmd later when:

  • A repo's branch policy changes (pull --ff-onlypull --rebase --ff-only)
  • You want a stash dance: 'git stash && git pull --rebase --ff-only && git stash pop'
  • You want to skip the pull entirely (call with no command argument to clear it)

Examples:

qmd collection update-cmd next.js 'git -C ~/Developer/refs/next.js pull --ff-only'
qmd collection update-cmd myrepo 'git stash && git pull --rebase --ff-only && git stash pop'
qmd collection update-cmd notes '' # clear (no pull, just re-index)

If qmd update runs and the command exits non-zero, the entire qmd update aborts immediately (subsequent collections are skipped). Test the command on its own before setting it.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
