Written for Claude Code: ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT variable. Also seen: mentions .claude-plugin; positional $N argument.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00028 $0.04298
Opus 5.5 $0.00011 $0.01719
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00860
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00430

Security

Grade A, and why

scout-status scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Scout Status Dashboard

You are displaying a status dashboard for the user's Scout installation. Follow each section below in order. Present the final output as a clean, readable dashboard — not as a series of intermediate steps.

Step 1: Locate the Scout Config

Check for scout-config.yaml in these locations, in order:

  1. The current working directory (./scout-config.yaml)
  2. ~/Scout/scout-config.yaml
  3. ~/scout/scout-config.yaml
for f in "./scout-config.yaml" "$HOME/Scout/scout-config.yaml" "$HOME/scout/scout-config.yaml"; do
    if [ -f "$f" ]; then echo "FOUND:$f"; break; fi
done

If no config is found:

Tell the user:

No Scout installation found. Run `/scout-setup` to create one.

Stop here. Do not proceed with the dashboard.

If found: note the path as SCOUT_CONFIG and derive SCOUT_DIR as its parent directory. Read the config file, then continue.

Step 2: Parse the Config

From the YAML config, extract:

  • instance_name → INSTANCE_NAME
  • user.name → USER_NAME
  • user.email → USER_EMAIL
  • connectors block → CONNECTORS (the map of service → true/false)
  • schedule.briefing → BRIEFING_TIME
  • schedule.consolidation → CONSOLIDATION_TIMES
  • schedule.dreaming → DREAMING_TIMES
  • platform → PLATFORM
  • scout_dir → SCOUT_DIR (use this if present; otherwise use the parent directory of the config file)

Step 3: Gather Data

Run all of the following data-gathering steps before composing the dashboard output.

3a. Last Runs (git log)

git -C "SCOUT_DIR" log --oneline -10

Collect the 10 most recent commit messages. Identify the most recent commit that mentions "briefing", "consolidation", "dreaming", "research", "work", and "meta-review" respectively (case-insensitive match on the commit message).

3b. KB Health

find "SCOUT_DIR/knowledge-base" -type f -name "*.md" | sort

For each file found, read it and look for a line matching either:

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

scout-status is a command published in the GitHub repository Raven-Scout/Scout (19 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 28 tokens to every session and 4,298 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-06.
