presence-status

presence-status is a command for Claude Code from sara-star-quant/presence. It costs 32 tokens per session (403 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A command that reports the current status of a coding-agent presence system, including its active preset, repository identity, model size, pending events, and recent warnings. An optional mode reports the status of listed zero-trust security controls.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to check the current session and repository status, review recent errors or warnings, or inspect zero-trust controls when the relevant option is provided.
Why use it?
It provides a quick way to see whether the agent’s expected operating state is active and whether recent problems need attention. The security mode shows which additional controls pass or fail.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00032 $0.00403
Opus 5 $0.00016 $0.00201
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00081
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00040

Security

Grade A, and why

presence-status scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Parse $ARGUMENTS:

  • If --zerotrust is present: produce a focused checklist showing the status of each Zero-Trust control. Use:

    PRESENCE_ROOT="${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT:-$(realpath ~/.claude/plugins/presence 2>/dev/null || echo .)}"
    PYTHONPATH="$PRESENCE_ROOT/lib" python3 -c "
    from doctor import zerotrust_report
    for line in zerotrust_report():
        print(line)
    "

    Show the output verbatim. Then briefly summarize: how many controls are OK vs FAIL, and whether the active preset is zerotrust (if not, mention that ZT controls are inactive even if available).

  • Otherwise (no flag): produce a single concise paragraph summarizing active preset, current repo id (12-char hash), model size (in KB if > 1KB), pending event count, and whether there are any new errors/warnings since last session. Do not show the full doctor report; that's what /presence-doctor is for.

    PRESENCE_ROOT="${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT:-$(realpath ~/.claude/plugins/presence 2>/dev/null || echo .)}"
    PYTHONPATH="$PRESENCE_ROOT/lib" python3 "$PRESENCE_ROOT/lib/doctor.py" --cwd "$PWD" --json

    Format response as one or two sentences. Example: "presence is on preset solo-dev for repo a1b2c3d4e5f6: 2.3 KB of model notes, 4 pending events, no warnings."

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

presence-status is a command published in the GitHub repository sara-star-quant/presence (7 stars, last pushed 3d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 32 tokens to every session and 403 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
