What is start-session?

A command for starting a tracked AI work session. It creates a session record, records the transcript location and starting context, and marks the session active.

Use it before non-trivial repository work to record the topic, project, task, namespace, model, goal, and transcript path.

It keeps a durable record of meaningful work instead of leaving decisions and context only in a chat transcript. This makes the work easier to review and close later.

What this command does

Creates a session record in sessions/active/ named YYYY-MM-DD-<topic>.md.
Declares the transcript path under sessions/logs/.
Records the linked work item and the initial context loaded.
Marks the session status: active.

Notes

This command starts the durable session trail. It does not replace the closeout review. Use /close-session before ending the work.
