swarm: Command for Claude Code

.claude/commands/bump_version.md

bump_version is a command for Claude Code from swarm-ai-research/swarm. It costs 0 tokens per session (375 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A project command that changes the version number in pyproject.toml, CITATION.cff, and skill.md. It accepts a version such as 1.8.0 and checks that it follows the expected format.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when preparing a release to check current versions, update them together, and see which files changed.
Why use it?
It prevents the same release version from becoming inconsistent across project files and leaves changelog updates and publishing to other steps.

Command for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: installed under .claude/.

This is swarm-ai-research/swarm's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on swarm itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything swarm configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.00375
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00187
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00075
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00038

Measured 8d ago against content hash f873d74a786c, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-08, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

bump_version scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

/bump_version

Update the project version across all files that track it. Takes a version string as argument.

Usage

/bump_version 1.8.0

If no argument is provided, read the current version from pyproject.toml and report it, then ask the user what the new version should be.

Files to update

  1. pyproject.tomlversion = "X.Y.Z" under [project]
  2. CITATION.cffversion: "X.Y.Z"
  3. skill.mdversion: X.Y.Z in frontmatter

Steps

  1. Read all three files to get current versions
  2. Report current state:
    Current versions:
      pyproject.toml: 1.7.0
      CITATION.cff: 1.7.0
      skill.md: 1.7.0

  3. Edit each file to the new version
  4. Report what changed:
    Updated to 1.8.0:
      pyproject.toml 1.7.0 → 1.8.0
      CITATION.cff 1.7.0 → 1.8.0
      skill.md 1.7.0 → 1.8.0

Constraints

  • Do NOT commit or push — the user may want to bundle this with other release changes
  • Do NOT update CHANGELOG.md — the /release command handles that
  • Validate the version looks like semver (X.Y.Z) before applying
  • If any file already has the target version, skip it and note "already at X.Y.Z"
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

bump_version is a command published in the GitHub repository swarm-ai-research/swarm (41 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 375 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
