Claude-Pipeline: Command for Claude Code

.claude/commands/design.md

design is a command for Claude Code from TheAstrelo/Claude-Pipeline. It costs 0 tokens per session (611 once invoked), scanned B, original, MIT.

A command for producing a technical design after checking current library documentation and patterns already used in the codebase.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it after starting the required work session to research APIs, compare design choices, inspect related code, and document the proposed solution.
Why use it?
It grounds implementation decisions in up-to-date references and existing project conventions.

Command for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: installed under .claude/.

This is TheAstrelo/Claude-Pipeline's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on Claude-Pipeline itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything Claude-Pipeline configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.00611
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00305
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00122
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00061

Measured 9d ago against content hash 6d4cf2e20087, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-08, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade B, and why

design scanned grade B with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

.claude/, .codex/, .gemini/ hold keys, settings and other credentials a mod has no legitimate need for.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 102 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Create a technical design grounded in live documentation research.

Prerequisites

Check that a session exists:

# Read current session
if [ ! -f ".claude/artifacts/current.txt" ]; then
echo "ERROR: No active session. Run /arm first."
  exit 1
fi
SESSION_DIR=$(cat .claude/artifacts/current.txt)
if [ ! -f "$SESSION_DIR/brief.md" ]; then
echo "ERROR: No brief.md found in $SESSION_DIR. Run /arm first."
  exit 1
fi

If no session exists, stop and tell the user to run /arm <task> first.

Technical Design

Use the architect agent.

Input: Read brief.md from the current session directory.

Process:

  1. Extract key requirements and technology keywords from the brief
  2. Research live documentation via WebSearch and WebFetch:
    • For each library/API mentioned, find current best practices
    • Get specific API patterns, configuration options, gotchas
    • Note the URLs and relevant quotes
  3. Analyze existing codebase patterns via Glob/Grep/Read:
    • How does RDO already handle similar features?
    • What patterns should we follow for consistency?
  4. Make design decisions:
    • Each decision must cite live docs OR existing codebase
    • Document alternatives considered and why rejected
  5. Define component interfaces, data models, API contracts
  6. Output design.md to the session directory

Documentation Research Guidelines

For each technology decision:

  1. Search: [technology] documentation 2024 or [library] best practices
  2. Fetch: Read the actual docs page, not just search results
  3. Extract: Specific recommendations, code patterns, warnings
  4. Cite: Include URL and relevant quote in the design

> "staleTime defaults to 0, meaning queries will be considered stale immediately"

We set 5 minutes because company data changes infrequently.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

design is a command published in the GitHub repository TheAstrelo/Claude-Pipeline (45 stars, last pushed 4d ago), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 611 tokens. A static security scan graded it B with 1 finding (reads agent configuration directories). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
