cc-hooks

cc-hooks is a command for Claude Code from TheLobbi/claude. It costs 0 tokens per session (427 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A command for designing, creating, listing, testing, and debugging Claude Code hooks, which are scripts that run when specified events occur.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create hooks before or after tools run, record activity, run tests when work stops, add security checks, and investigate hooks that do not fire.
Why use it?
It removes the need to manually design hook scripts and edit their settings when automating actions around tool use or sessions.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00000 $0.00427
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00214
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00085
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00043

Measured 4d ago against content hash d8233d99b50b, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

cc-hooks scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

/cc-hooks — Claude Code Hooks Designer & Manager

Design, create, and manage Claude Code hooks.

Usage

/cc-hooks [action] [hook-type]

Actions

create

Create a new hook interactively.

/cc-hooks create # Interactive

list

List all configured hooks.

/cc-hooks list

test

Test a hook script with sample input.

/cc-hooks test .claude/hooks/my-hook.sh

debug

Debug why a hook isn't firing.

/cc-hooks debug

Implementation

When invoked:

For create:

  1. Determine hook type needed
  2. Ask about trigger conditions (matcher pattern)
  3. Ask about desired behavior
  4. Generate hook script
  5. Add hook configuration to settings.json
  6. Make script executable
  7. Test with sample input

For list:

  1. Read settings.json
  2. Display all hooks with:
    • Event type
    • Matcher pattern
    • Script path
    • Script status (exists/missing, executable/not)

For test:

  1. Generate appropriate sample JSON input
  2. Run the hook script with the sample input
  3. Display output and exit code
  4. Validate output JSON format

For debug:

  1. Check settings.json hook configuration
  2. Verify script paths exist
  3. Verify scripts are executable
  4. Check script dependencies (jq, etc.)
  5. Run scripts with test input
  6. Report issues found
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

cc-hooks is a command published in the GitHub repository TheLobbi/claude (21 stars, last pushed 8d ago), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 427 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
