find

find is a command for Claude Code from xerj-org/xerj. It costs 16 tokens per session (168 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A command that searches the user's indexed local documents and answers with citations to the file and page, slide, sheet or message containing each fact.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to ask questions about indexed notes, mail, PDFs, spreadsheets and other documents.
Why use it?
It keeps answers tied to the user's own files instead of memory or web results. If nothing relevant is found, it reports that rather than inventing an answer.

About the project

XERJ is a local search tool that automatically indexes folders so coding agents can retrieve relevant code, documents, logs, and PDFs without reading files one at a time. It is for developers and agents using code search, retrieval-augmented generation, security audits, or agent memory.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00016 $0.00168
Opus 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00067
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00003 $0.00034
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00017

Measured 5d ago against content hash 357f0ea1e1cf, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

find scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Answer this from the user's indexed local documents: $ARGUMENTS

  1. Search with the xerj_search MCP tool (or xerj search --prefix <prefix> "<plain words>"), using the words the documents would use. If you know the prefix the folder was indexed under, pass it. Try two or three phrasings if the first one misses.
  2. Answer only from what the hits say. Cite each fact with the file path and the page, slide, sheet or message the hit names.
  3. If nothing relevant is found, say so and say which prefix was searched. Do not answer from memory.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
