status

status is a command for Claude Code from xiyouMc/grok-hud. It costs 13 tokens per session (425 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A one-time display of the current Grok session's HUD, including context usage, model, and tools. The context window is the amount of conversation and other information Grok can use at once.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to inspect one session, all active sessions, a working directory, or a session ID, with optional JSON output.
Why use it?
It lets you check session limits and details without opening a live display.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00013 $0.00425
Opus 5 $0.00006 $0.00212
Sonnet 5 $0.00003 $0.00085
Haiku 4.5 $0.00001 $0.00042

Measured 6d ago against content hash 2ef86dbaa40c, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

status scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

/grok-hud:status

Print a one-shot grok-hud snapshot for the active session(s).

Arguments

$ARGUMENTS

Supported flags (pass through to CLI):

  • --all — every active session
  • --json — machine-readable
  • --cwd <path> — focus a working directory
  • --session <id> — focus a session id

Steps

  1. Resolve runner:
PLUGIN_ROOT="${GROK_PLUGIN_ROOT:-}"
if [ -n "$PLUGIN_ROOT" ] && [ -f "$PLUGIN_ROOT/bin/grok-hud.js" ]; then
  RUNNER="node $PLUGIN_ROOT/bin/grok-hud.js"
elif command -v grok-hud >/dev/null 2>&1; then
  RUNNER="grok-hud"
else
  echo "grok-hud not built. Run /grok-hud:setup first."
  exit 1
fi
  1. If dist/ is missing under plugin root, run setup build first (npm install && npm run build in plugin root).

  2. Run (append user args):

$RUNNER --once $ARGUMENTS
  1. Present the output to the user in a fenced code block (preserve ANSI only if the terminal shows colors; otherwise use --no-color).

  2. Briefly explain the numbers:

Field Meaning
Context % Session context window fill (signals.json)
tokens used / total context tokens
轮次 / Turns User turns this session
工具 / Tools Tool call count + recent activity line
● 活跃 Process still running

If no sessions are found, suggest starting grok in a project directory, or pass --cwd.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

status is a command published in the GitHub repository xiyouMc/grok-hud (8 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 13 tokens to every session and 425 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
