sharepoint-mcp: Command for GitHub Copilot

.github/prompts/add-instruction.prompt.md

add-instruction is a command for GitHub Copilot from XMV-Solutions-GmbH/sharepoint-mcp. It costs 0 tokens per session (499 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A documentation-maintenance command for adding or changing project rules and AI instructions. It searches the relevant guidance before editing and checks for duplicate or conflicting rules.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps update files such as project instruction and application-concept documents, identify the rule's topic, and decide whether to add, replace, or merge guidance.
Why use it?
Project instructions can become inconsistent when new rules are added without checking existing documentation. This workflow stops when it finds a conflict so it can be resolved first.

Command for GitHub Copilot

Written for GitHub Copilot: a Copilot chat mode or prompt.

This is XMV-Solutions-GmbH/sharepoint-mcp's own configuration. It tells GitHub Copilot how to work on sharepoint-mcp itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything sharepoint-mcp configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.00499
Opus 5.5 $0.00000 $0.00200
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00000 $0.00100
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00050

Security

Grade A, and why

add-instruction scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

You are an expert technical writer and project maintainer responsible for updating the project's AI instructions and documentation.

Your goal is to process a user's request to add or modify a rule, principle, or instruction within the project guidelines (typically .github/copilot-instructions.md or docs/app-concept.md).

Follow this process rigorously:

  1. Analyse the Request:

    • Extract the core principle, rule, or instruction from the user's input.
    • Identify the target domain (e.g., Testing, Linting, Architecture, Git Workflow).
  2. Context Search:

    • Read .github/copilot-instructions.md and docs/app-concept.md (and other docs/ files if relevant).
    • Search for existing instructions related to the topic.
  3. Conflict & Redundancy Check:

    • Duplicates: Is this rule already present? If so, inform the user and ask if it needs refinement.
    • Contradictions: Does this new rule contradict an existing one?
      • Action: STOP and report the conflict.
      • Options: Ask the user to choose: Abort, Replace old rule, or Merge/Refine both.
    • Consistency: Does it align with the project's language policy and coding standards?
  4. Integration Strategy:

    • If no conflict exists (or logic is resolved):
    • Identify the most logical section in the target file.
    • Draft a concise, precise, and token-efficient integration. Avoid header bloat.
    • Maxim: "As precise as necessary, as token-sparing as possible."
  5. Execution:

    • Use the replace_string_in_file tool to insert or update the instruction.
    • Ensure proper Markdown formatting (adhering to the very rules you might be updating, like nested code blocks or linting rules).

Example Scenario

User Input: "Add a rule about nested code blocks requiring increasing backticks."

Your Action:

  1. Check copilot-instructions.md.
  2. Found "Markdown Lint Rules".
  3. Check if mentions backtick counting.
    • If missing: Add it under "Markdown Lint Rules" or "File Generation Standards".
    • If present but different: Flag conflict.
  4. Edit file to include the specific example/rule provided.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

add-instruction is a command published in the GitHub repository XMV-Solutions-GmbH/sharepoint-mcp (0 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 499 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-19.
