Autosearch: Instructions file for Claude Code

.github/copilot-instructions.md

Autosearch copilot-instructions.md is an instructions file for Claude Code, GitHub Copilot from 0xmariowu/Autosearch. It costs 1,166 tokens per session, scanned A, a copy of AgentLint copilot-instructions.md, MIT.

Repository instructions for AgentLint, a shell-based checker that reviews AI-agent repository instructions, continuous integration, and other readiness patterns.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when changing the scanner, TypeScript command-line wrapper, tests, CI-related checks, or publishing setup.
Why use it?
They set strict rules for fixing code without changing test expectations, hiding warnings, weakening checks, or making unrelated edits.

Instructions file for Claude CodeGitHub Copilot

Written for Claude Code and GitHub Copilot: ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT} variable, but also a Copilot instructions file. Also seen: mentions CLAUDE.md; mentions AGENTS.md.

This is 0xmariowu/Autosearch's own configuration. It tells Claude Code and GitHub Copilot how to work on Autosearch itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything Autosearch configures →

Runs only inside a plugin — its command needs a path that Claude Code sets for a plugin’s own hooks and for nothing else, and the catalogue could not identify which plugin ships it.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01166 $0.01166
Opus 5 $0.00583 $0.00583
Sonnet 5 $0.00233 $0.00233
Haiku 4.5 $0.00117 $0.00117

Measured 7d ago against content hash 2acb38a8acf2, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

Autosearch copilot-instructions.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Origin

Copilot instructions for AgentLint

AgentLint is a shell-based linter for AI-friendly repos. It scans for CLAUDE.md/AGENTS.md quality, CI hygiene, and agent-ready patterns, then emits SARIF + scored reports. Primary language is bash (src/scanner.sh + 49 rules across 8 dimensions), with a TypeScript CLI wrapper and npm publishing pipeline.

Any Copilot agent (Coding Agent, Code Review, ci-doctor) working on this repo must follow the rules below.

Hard rules — never violate

  1. No test assertion mutation. If a test is failing, fix the code or file a bug — never change the expected value in an assertion to make it pass.
  2. No lint / type / test suppressions. No @ts-ignore, # noqa, // eslint-disable, it.skip, @pytest.mark.skip, or equivalent. The tool raised it for a reason.
  3. No weakening of CI, workflows, or build config. Do not edit .github/workflows/**, Makefile, tsconfig.json, package.json scripts, or test config to make things pass. Fix the code instead.
  4. No deleting or skipping tests to resolve a failure.
  5. No unrelated refactors. Only change lines directly required by the task. A bug fix does not need surrounding cleanup.
  6. No features, abstractions, or error handling the task did not ask for. Three similar lines beats a premature abstraction. Don't validate scenarios that cannot happen.
  7. No absolute hardcoded paths (/Users/..., /home/...). Use ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}, env vars, or repo-relative paths.
  8. No emoji in code, comments, commit messages, or markdown unless explicitly requested.
  9. No new top-level files (README alternates, design docs, notes) unless the task explicitly asks.
  10. No commits to main. All changes go through a PR.

Scope discipline for this repo

  • Adding a check requires evidence. Cite an Anthropic source, academic paper, or documented real-world failure in standards/evidence.json. Opinions are not acceptable.
  • Scanner output is a contract. Changing the JSONL schema in src/scanner.sh requires updating the scorer, plan-generator, and reporter in the same PR.
  • Scoring changes require rationale in standards/weights.json. Do not adjust weights silently.
  • Thresholds in shell code must match standards/evidence.json. Do not hardcode a new number without updating the evidence file.
  • Skills in commands/*.md must reference bundled assets via ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}. Persistent data goes in ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_DATA} or ~/.al/, never the plugin root.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
