LTSpice-MCP: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

LTSpice-MCP CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from AbiyuLingga/LTSpice-MCP. It costs 355 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A repository instruction file for Claude Code, an AI coding assistant. It points to the main agent guide and sets the project's development, testing, simulation, and safety rules.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to guide setup, testing, type checking, linting, command-line use, and MCP configuration for the LTSpice project. It also directs Claude Code to the canonical AGENTS.md rules.
Why use it?
It keeps coding work consistent with the repository's agreed tools and safeguards. It also prevents direct simulator use and other shortcuts that could lose diagnostics or bypass checks.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00355 $0.00355
Opus 5 $0.00178 $0.00178
Sonnet 5 $0.00071 $0.00071
Haiku 4.5 $0.00036 $0.00036

Security

Grade A, and why

LTSpice-MCP CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

CLAUDE.md

This is a thin shim. The canonical agent guide for this repository is AGENTS.md. Read that first; everything below is just Claude Code–specific pointers.

Claude Code pointers

  • The project uses pip install -e ".[dev]" for local development. Do not switch to uv/poetry without an ADR.
  • Prefer pytest -q for short test output. Use pytest -m integration only when LTspice is verified working.
  • Use ruff check . --fix and mypy src --strict before considering a task done.
  • The CLI is registered as the ltagent script via the [project.scripts] entry in pyproject.toml. After pip install -e .[dev], ltagent is on PATH.
  • Never bypass ltagent to invoke wine or XVIIx64.exe directly. Every simulation must go through the runner so that doctor-style diagnostics, timeouts, and structured output are preserved.
  • For MCP, use the installed ltagent-mcp stdio entry point. Verify the active surface with ltagent-mcp --list-tools and ltagent-mcp --list-resources before configuring Claude Code.

Working agreement

Follow AGENTS.md for hard rules (no LLM-written .asc coordinates, no arbitrary shell, no path traversal, no shell=True, JSON output contract on every command). If a Claude Code-specific question is not answered here, prefer the project-level rule in AGENTS.md.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
