aby-claude-watcher: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

aby-claude-watcher CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from aby-agency/aby-claude-watcher. It costs 14,350 tokens per session, scanned B, original, MIT.

Development instructions for an Electron desktop app that watches Claude Code sessions in real time. They describe its architecture, session states, development commands, and key design decisions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Maintaining the watcher, working on session discovery and state handling, changing the macOS interface, and building or testing the app.
Why use it?
They give a coding agent the project context needed to change the app safely, including its Node.js requirement and how its processes communicate.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.14350 $0.14350
Opus 5 $0.07175 $0.07175
Sonnet 5 $0.02870 $0.02870
Haiku 4.5 $0.01435 $0.01435

Security

Grade B, and why

aby-claude-watcher CLAUDE.md scanned grade B with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Dev

npm install
npm start # production
npm run dev # with devtools
npm run build # DMG — REQUIERT Node ≥ 20.19 (cf. .nvmrc: 22)

Architecture

  • main.js — Electron main process, window, IPC, tray
  • watcher.js — Session discovery (~/.claude/sessions/), JSONL parsing, state machine
  • socket.js — Unix socket IPC for cc/cwa wrappers
  • focus.js — Terminal focus (AppleScript iTerm2/Terminal/Warp), resume, launch
  • config.js — Persistence (debounced writes, saveSync on shutdown)
  • preload.js — Context bridge (contextIsolation: true)
  • island.js + island-model.js — Dynamic island ancrée à l'encoche (fenêtre transparente + logique pure testée)
  • ui/ — Renderer (vanilla HTML/CSS/JS, no framework)

States

State Color Trigger
thinking purple #a78bfa Last event = user text (Claude processing)
running blue #3b82f6 Last event = assistant with stop_reason: "tool_use"
waiting green #22c55e status: idle/shell de session.json (CLI ≥ 2.1.260) ; sinon end_turn + 2s no activity.
error red #ef4444 isApiErrorMessage event OR silent crash after explicit resume
completed (purged) Session file gone + PID dead → removed from UI

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
