Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.02040 | $0.02040 |
| Opus 5 | $0.01020 | $0.01020 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00408 | $0.00408 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00204 | $0.00204 |
Grade A, and why
clippy-pet AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 85 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
AGENTS.md
Instructions for AI coding agents (Claude Code, Codex CLI, Cursor, Gemini CLI, and others) working in this repository. Tool-specific files (CLAUDE.md, GEMINI.md, .cursor/rules/) point back here — this is the canonical source. Human contributors should read CONTRIBUTING.md instead; the two documents describe the same rules but this one is written for an agent executing commands, not a person reading prose.
What this project is
Clippy Pet is an unofficial, animated paperclip "pet" for the ChatGPT desktop app and Codex CLI, implementing OpenAI's documented pet file format as a third party. The deliverable is small and exact: a JSON manifest (pet.json) plus a single sprite atlas (spritesheet.webp), distributed through a one-line installer, native OS packages, and a signed GitHub release. A v1 (nine-row, web-upload) spritesheet is built from the same source for ChatGPT on the web, which does not support look-direction tracking.
It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft or OpenAI — see NOTICE.md. Never write or generate copy that implies otherwise.

pet.json, spritesheet.webp |
The actual product: manifest + v2 atlas. Treat as a strict contract (see below). |
source/frames/, source/row-strips/ |
Editable per-state source art the atlas is composed from. |
scripts/validate.py |
Validates manifest + atlas geometry/alpha/cell-occupancy. Run before every commit that touches the pet. |
scripts/build-v1-spritesheet.py |
Derives the legacy v1 (web-upload) sheet from v2 source. |
scripts/install.sh, packaging/bin/clippy-pet |
The one-line installer and the installed CLI (install/uninstall/status/sync/path/autostart). Shell, must pass shellcheck. |
packaging/linux/, packaging/macos/, packaging/dist/ |
nfpm-based .deb/.rpm/.apk/Arch builds, macOS .app/.pkg/.dmg builds, reproducible tarballs. |

Validator output, blind direction QA, semantic review, continuity/chroma reports, preview GIFs — the evidence backing README claims. Don't hand-edit; regenerate via the relevant script. |

What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

clippy-pet AGENTS.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository adammatthewsteinberger/clippy-pet (2 stars, last pushed 6d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 2,040 tokens to every session, about $0.0102 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings.
