truenorth-cli: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

truenorth-cli CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from Advent-AI/truenorth-cli. It costs 362 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for TrueNorth CLI, a TypeScript command-line program that connects to the TrueNorth agent-tools web service. It discovers available tools and can call one or several of them.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when developing the CLI, its HTTP client, tool discovery, single calls, batch calls, error handling, or JSON output.
Why use it?
They explain how to build and test the CLI while preventing a local command registry from becoming outdated as the service adds tools.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00362 $0.00362
Opus 5 $0.00181 $0.00181
Sonnet 5 $0.00072 $0.00072
Haiku 4.5 $0.00036 $0.00036

Measured 6d ago against content hash ade39dde9e0d, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

truenorth-cli CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

CLAUDE.md — TrueNorth CLI

Overview

Standalone npm CLI for the TrueNorth agent-tools REST API. It exposes only tools, call, and batch; every tool is discovered and invoked dynamically.

Tech Stack

  • TypeScript (strict, ESM, NodeNext)
  • Commander.js
  • Chalk, cli-table3, and ora
  • Vitest

Development Commands

npm install
npm run build
npm test

    ├── tools.ts
    ├── call.ts
    └── batch.ts

API

  • Default base URL: https://tn-api.truenorth.xyz/api/agent-tools
  • GET / lists tools and schemas.
  • POST /call calls one tool with {toolName, arguments}.
  • POST /batch calls several tools with {calls: [{toolName, arguments}]}.

Do not add tool-specific commands or local tool registries. New API tools must become available through tools, call, and batch without a CLI release.

Conventions

  • JSON modes must remain clean for piping.
  • Use wrapAction() for command error handling.
  • Use the shared API client for HTTP requests.
  • Keep the API envelopes compatible with the Python CLI.
  • Configuration is read from TN_BASE_URL or ~/.truenorth/config.json; there is no config command.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
