ag2-skills: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

ag2-skills AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from ag2ai/ag2-skills. It costs 1,283 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

Repository instructions for creating skills for AG2, an asynchronous Python framework for building software agents.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when adding or maintaining AG2 skills, helper scripts, reference documents, or packaged skill files.
Why use it?
They explain the required skill files, folder layout, naming rules, and repository context so new skills fit the project.

Instructions file for CodexOpenCode

Written for Codex and OpenCode: the file is AGENTS.md. Also seen: reads .claude/ paths; mentions Claude Code; mentions AGENTS.md.

This is ag2ai/ag2-skills's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on ag2-skills itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything ag2-skills configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01283 $0.01283
Opus 5 $0.00642 $0.00642
Sonnet 5 $0.00257 $0.00257
Haiku 4.5 $0.00128 $0.00128

Measured 7d ago against content hash 3206040ed18b, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

ag2-skills AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

This file provides guidance to AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, etc.) when working with code in this repository.

Repository Overview

A collection of skills for working with AG2 — an async, protocol-driven Python agent framework (ag2). Skills are packaged instructions and optional helper scripts that extend an agent's capabilities.

Skills follow the Agent Skills format: a SKILL.md with YAML frontmatter, plus optional scripts/ and references/ directories.

Creating a New Skill

Directory Structure

skills/
  {skill-name}/           # kebab-case directory name
    SKILL.md              # Required: skill definition
    scripts/              # Optional: executable scripts
      {script-name}.py    # Python preferred (matches AG2's runtime)
    references/ # Optional: supporting docs the agent reads on demand
  {skill-name}.zip # Optional: packaged for distribution

Naming Conventions

  • Skill directory: kebab-case, prefixed ag2- for AG2-feature skills (e.g. ag2-quickstart, ag2-middleware).
  • SKILL.md: Always uppercase, always this exact filename.
  • Scripts: kebab-case or snake_case — pick one per skill and stay consistent.
  • Zip file: Must match directory name exactly: {skill-name}.zip.

SKILL.md Format

---
name: {skill-name}
description: {One paragraph describing exactly when to use this skill. Lead with the action and key API surface; include trigger phrases and what to use it *with* (sibling skills).}

# {Skill Title}

## When to use

{Concrete situations where this skill applies. List trigger phrases and the user goals it serves.}

## Recipe

{Numbered steps or a minimal working example, in Python. Show the imports.}

## Reference

{Link to any files in `references/` or upstream AG2 docs (`website/docs/user-guide/...`).}

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
