Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.02057 | $0.02057 |
| Opus 5.5 | $0.00823 | $0.00823 |
| Sonnet 5.5 | $0.00411 | $0.00411 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00206 | $0.00206 |
Grade A, and why
actual-mcp-server AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 104 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
AGENTS.md
Guidance for coding agents (and the humans driving them) working on this repository. It follows the agents.md format. It is a map: the rules an agent would otherwise get wrong, plus links to the docs that hold the detail. Humans should also read .github/CONTRIBUTING.md.
Project
Actual MCP Server exposes Actual Budget to AI assistants over the Model Context Protocol. TypeScript (ESM, NodeNext) on Node.js 22+, @actual-app/api, @modelcontextprotocol/sdk, Express 5, Zod v4, Playwright. Two transports: HTTP (--http, multi-user) and stdio (--stdio, Claude Desktop and similar).
Request path: transport (src/server/httpServer.ts or src/server/stdioServer.ts) to src/lib/ActualMCPConnection.ts to src/actualToolsManager.ts (tool registry, Zod dispatch) to src/lib/actual-adapter.ts (every Actual call) to @actual-app/api. Tools live in src/tools/. Details: docs/ARCHITECTURE.md.
Setup
npm ci
cp .env.example .env # only needed to run against a real Actual server
npm run build
Every config variable is documented in docs/CONFIGURATION.md and .env.example.
Validate before you commit
Run these in order; all must pass. None needs a live Actual server.
npm run build # TypeScript; unused locals and parameters are errors
npm run verify-tools # every tool registered (reads dist/, so build first)
npm run test:adapter
npm run test:unit-js
npm run typecheck:e2e
npm run knip # dead code is a CI failure
npm run tool-count
npm audit --audit-level=moderate
There is no lint or format script. If test:adapter or test:unit-js complains about missing Actual settings, export the dummy values CI uses: ACTUAL_SERVER_URL=http://localhost:5006, ACTUAL_PASSWORD=dummy, ACTUAL_BUDGET_SYNC_ID=00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
