claude-obsidian copilot-instructions.md

claude-obsidian copilot-instructions.md is an instructions file for GitHub Copilot from AgriciDaniel/claude-obsidian. It costs 186 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Coding-agent instructions for GitHub Copilot when working on claude-obsidian, a toolkit containing agent skills, an adapter, Python code, and an Obsidian vault template. They cover file formats, testing, vault boundaries, and approved updates.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them before proposing or implementing repository changes, especially edits to skills, notes, source payloads, mutation handling, or tests.
Why use it?
They reduce mistakes such as changing raw source notes, adding unsupported claims, writing to the wrong vault, or skipping regression tests. A monorepo-like project here contains several related parts that must follow one contract.

About the project

claude-obsidian is a local knowledge system that turns source material into linked, source-cited Markdown notes in an Obsidian vault for use with Claude Code and compatible agent hosts. People use it to capture research, retrieve evidence-grounded answers, maintain knowledge, and map connections while retaining ownership of their files. The catalogue entries provide workflows and extensions for operating this knowledge system.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00186 $0.00186
Opus 5 $0.00093 $0.00093
Sonnet 5 $0.00037 $0.00037
Haiku 4.5 $0.00019 $0.00019

Measured 6d ago against content hash 35abbef26c54, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

claude-obsidian copilot-instructions.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

claude-obsidian Copilot instructions

Read AGENTS.md before proposing changes. The repository is an Agent Skills package, Claude Code adapter, standard-library Python core, and deterministic vault template—not the default live user vault.

When editing:

  • Keep skill frontmatter to exactly name and single-line description.
  • Use Obsidian Flavored Markdown, flat YAML properties, and YYYY-MM-DD dates.
  • Never modify existing raw source payloads.
  • Route all logical knowledge mutations through one inspected operation bundle.
  • Keep workers draft-only and lint/query read-only.
  • Preserve vault path containment and product/vault separation.
  • Add hermetic regression tests for behavior changes and run make test.
  • Do not add secrets, private paths, unsupported capability claims, or duplicate command wrappers.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
