oss-repo-check: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

oss-repo-check CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from AINative-Studio/oss-repo-check. It costs 1,091 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

Project instructions for maintaining an open-source repository and its quaid-scanner tool, including file placement, commit rules, testing, and TypeScript conventions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when adding features, documentation, or tests to quaid-scanner, organizing files, preparing commits, and checking coverage and code quality.
Why use it?
They give the agent repository-specific rules, such as where documentation belongs and which tests and quality checks must pass before changes are accepted.

Instructions file for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: the file is CLAUDE.md. Also seen: mentions CLAUDE.md.

This is AINative-Studio/oss-repo-check's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on oss-repo-check itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything oss-repo-check configures →

Not installable: its command points at a path on the author’s own machine, so it runs nowhere else. The line is /Users/karstenwade/Projects/quaid-scanner.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01091 $0.01091
Opus 5 $0.00545 $0.00545
Sonnet 5 $0.00218 $0.00218
Haiku 4.5 $0.00109 $0.00109

Measured 9d ago against content hash a8ca5f0ff404, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-09, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

oss-repo-check CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Critical Rules

1. Git Commits

  • Zero tolerance for AI attribution
  • No "Claude", "Anthropic", "Generated with", "Co-Authored-By" in commits
  • commit-msg hook enforces this

2. File Placement

  • Docs → docs/{category}/
  • No root .md files (except README.md and CLAUDE.md)
  • Content drafts (blog, social, release marketing) → docs/content/v{version}/{type}/
    • Draft here first; feed into blog-sources pipeline only at publish time
    • Applies to all content: blog posts, social threads, release notes marketing copy

3. Testing (MANDATORY)

  • 80%+ coverage required
  • All features tested
  • TDD approach preferred
  • npm test runs vitest

4. Code Quality

  • TypeScript strict mode, type hints on all functions
  • Docstrings for public methods
  • Clean, readable code

Agent-First Toolchain Intent

quaid-scanner is designed to be operated by an agent, not just a human. The full value of the tool only emerges when an agent drives the workflow end-to-end:

  1. Scanning — run quaid-scanner against one or many repos, capture JSON output
  2. Analysis — parse findings, group by category, identify cross-portfolio patterns
  3. Reporting — fill docs/scans/portfolio-report-template.md from scan JSON; the template contains inline agent instructions for every section
  4. Backlog generation — derive user stories from findings using the story template bank at the bottom of the report template
  5. Issue creation — open GitHub issues from the backlog stories, one issue per story

When working on this toolchain, keep this intent in mind:

  • JSON is the primary output format — markdown is secondary
  • --quiet --format json is the canonical agent invocation
  • The report template is written for an agent reader; comments are instructions, not decoration
  • Scanner findings should always include a suggestion field — that's what feeds the story want clause
  • Scans of large portfolios should run in parallel (background bash jobs or parallel agents)

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
