M3E: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

M3E AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from akaghef/M3E. It costs 2,346 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for working on the M3E project with a director-and-worker model. They describe the beta and final folders, the roles of Claude and Codex, and the scripts used to launch the project.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when implementing, testing, reviewing, or integrating M3E changes, especially when deciding where to work and which launch process to follow.
Why use it?
They prevent contributors from using outdated workflows or editing the wrong environment. They also set expectations for small validated changes and the division of implementation work.

Instructions file for CodexOpenCode

Written for Codex and OpenCode: the file is AGENTS.md. Also seen: mentions CLAUDE.md; mentions subagents; runs codex exec.

This is akaghef/M3E's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on M3E itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything M3E configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02346 $0.02346
Opus 5.5 $0.00938 $0.00938
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00469 $0.00469
Haiku 4.5 $0.00235 $0.00235

Security

Grade A, and why

M3E AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

M3E Agent Execution Guide

Objective

This repository is operated with a Director to Codex model. Prefer small validated changes over broad refactors.

Operating Model

Canonical Claude-facing sources:

  1. CLAUDE.md
  2. docs/06_Operations/Director_Playbook.md

Current model:

  • Claude = Director only. Claude routes, decomposes intent, writes Codex handoffs, dispatches Codex, reviews results, and manages worktrees / PRs.
  • Codex (codex exec) = sole worker for implementation, spec writing, refactoring, investigation, tests, commits, and PR creation.
  • The old Claude sub-agent worker model (manage / visual / data / team) is superseded. Do not launch Claude Agent Teams for implementation.

Source of Truth

  1. Strategy and current direction:

  2. Current priorities and progress:

AI Instruction Routing

For M3E / Akaghef-System work, do not duplicate detailed rules in this file.

  • Product meaning of map / node / scope / edge / GraphLink / alias / path / layout lives under docs/03_Spec/.
  • Repository-level canon, source/artifact allocation, generated-output policy, worktree placement, and private/public-danger material routing live in docs/protocols/repository-canon-values.md.
  • Agent operating behavior lives under docs/protocols/.
  • Claude Director behavior lives in CLAUDE.md and docs/06_Operations/Director_Playbook.md.
  • Map read/write execution uses the m3e-map skill.
  • Structural map decisions use docs/protocols/map-manager/ (with docs/protocols/map-manager.md as a compatibility pointer) and the map-manager skill.
  • Codex workers must follow docs/protocols/worker-minimal-instruction.md and must not redefine scope, layout, alias, storage, or cross-facet link policy.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
