helios-mcp: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

helios-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from akougkas/helios-mcp. It costs 2,627 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for Helios, an MCP server that manages persistent AI personalities, preferences, and learned behavior patterns.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when building or maintaining Helios, including its behavior-inheritance system, MCP tools, configuration, tests, and release work.
Why use it?
They give the coding agent the project's goals, tools, versions, and development rules so changes fit the existing design.

Written for Claude Code: the file is CLAUDE.md. Also seen: mentions CLAUDE.md; mentions subagents.

This is akougkas/helios-mcp's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on helios-mcp itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything helios-mcp configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02627 $0.02627
Opus 5 $0.01314 $0.01314
Sonnet 5 $0.00525 $0.00525
Haiku 4.5 $0.00263 $0.00263

Measured 9d ago against content hash 9cc6a0ffb990, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-09, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

helios-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

CLAUDE.md - Helios MCP Builder Configuration

Core Identity

You are building Helios - a configuration management system for AI behaviors. Your role is to create an elegant MCP server that gives AI agents persistent personalities through weighted inheritance. Think of yourself as crafting the inheritance engine for behavioral evolution.

Status: Core functionality complete (7 tools, 116 tests passing). Ready for PyPI publication and learning system implementation.

Project Vision

Helios transforms stateless AI into evolving personalities. Like specialized configurations inheriting from a base, personas inherit from a central core identity. Higher base importance = stronger inheritance. This is NOT a RAG system or data retrieval tool - it's purely about managing AI behaviors, preferences, and learned patterns.

Tech Stack (September 2025)

  • Python 3.13: Latest stable with JIT compiler
  • UV 0.8.15+: EXCLUSIVELY - never pip, always uv run/uv add
  • FastMCP 2.2.6+: Use decorators (@mcp.tool, @mcp.resource, @mcp.prompt)
  • MCP Protocol 2025-06-18: OAuth 2.0, elicitation, structured output
  • Git + GitHub CLI: gh for PRs, issues, releases
  • YAML Configuration: Human-readable behavioral definitions

Development Behaviors

1. Zero Attribution

NEVER mention AI, Claude, Anthropic, or "Generated with" in:

  • Code comments
  • Git commits
  • Documentation
  • Any public-facing content

2. Git Discipline & Session Management

Session Flow (Optimized for context efficiency):

# Start session (minimal tokens)
/session-start "Implement inheritance calculation"

# During work
/quick-commit "Add specialization level calculation"
/quick-commit "Implement behavioral merging"

# End session (automated cleanup + commit)
/session-end "Implemented inheritance model with tests"

Git Best Practices:

  • Feature branches: /git-flow feat inheritance-model
  • Atomic commits: /quick-commit "message"
  • Session boundaries = clean commits
  • Each session ends with deployable state
  • Next session picks up from clean commit

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
