ai-asset-pricing: Instructions file for Gemini CLI

GEMINI.md

ai-asset-pricing GEMINI.md is an instructions file for Gemini CLI from Alexander-M-Dickerson/ai-asset-pricing. It costs 517 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for the Gemini command-line coding agent in a financial research project. They describe Gemini-specific setup and point to shared project instructions for charts, figures, and domain guidance.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when onboarding the project with Gemini, reading its skills, or creating financial charts, publication figures, validation galleries, or Word proof packs.
Why use it?
They give Gemini the project’s expected startup process and help it follow existing tools and style instead of inventing its own workflow.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00517 $0.00517
Opus 5 $0.00259 $0.00259
Sonnet 5 $0.00103 $0.00103
Haiku 4.5 $0.00052 $0.00052

Security

Grade A, and why

ai-asset-pricing GEMINI.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Gemini-Specific Notes

  • Onboarding: ask Gemini CLI to onboard or set up the repo in chat. Under the hood it should use the same cold-start flow as Claude /onboard and Codex: tools/onboard.ps1 or tools/onboard.sh to get Python 3.11+, then tools/onboard_driver.py, then tools/bootstrap.py audit, the emitted bootstrap plan, and tools/bootstrap.py apply. WRDS is optional and should only be configured if the user has an account and wants it set up now.
  • Skills: read .claude/skills/*/SKILL.md files directly. They are plain markdown instructions, not Claude-binary artifacts. Gemini can follow them as-is.
  • Figures: for charts, FT-style plots, house-style publication plots, validation galleries, or Word proof packs, read docs/ai/figures.md and use fintools.figures before writing custom plotting code. Use style="fins" for the house style and style="ft" for FT-style output; legacy .claude/skills/publication-figures/ helper assets remain available when a standalone helper workflow is explicitly requested.
  • Domain experts: read .claude/agents/*.md for deep WRDS, CRSP, OptionMetrics, TAQ, bonds, and Fama-French domain context.
  • Hooks: .claude/hooks/ are Claude Code automation (LaTeX rebuild, pre-commit preflight). Gemini CLI users should run tools/release_preflight.py --strict manually before commits.
  • Strict preflight auto-cleans repo temp artifacts when possible and tolerates gitignored repo-root local artifacts such as .venv/, .claude/settings.local.json, .tmp-pytest-current/, .tmp-uv-cache/, and .Rhistory; LOCAL_ENV.md and CLAUDE.local.md still block release.
  • MCP: Perplexity MCP is configured in .claude/settings.json. Gemini users should configure equivalent MCP servers in .gemini/settings.json if needed.
  • The canonical local state lives outside the repo. See docs/ai/onboarding.md.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
