agentharness: Instructions file for Claude Code

GEMINI.md

agentharness GEMINI.md is an instructions file for Claude Code, Gemini CLI from andr-ca/agentharness. It costs 7,555 tokens per session, scanned A, a copy of agentharness copilot-instructions.md, MIT.

A generated instruction file for Gemini CLI and other coding tools working on the agentharness repository. It explains how the repository routes tasks to specialized agents and loads their instructions.

In plain words
What is it for?
It guides agent selection, file placement, workflow completion, and on-demand loading of skills.
Why use it?
It keeps AI coding tools aligned with the repository's own workflow and prevents generated instructions from drifting from their source.

Instructions file for Claude CodeGemini CLI

Written for Claude Code and Gemini CLI: PreToolUse hook event, but also the file is GEMINI.md. Also seen: reads .claude/ paths; mentions CLAUDE.md; mentions subagents.

This is andr-ca/agentharness's own configuration. It tells Claude Code and Gemini CLI how to work on agentharness itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything agentharness configures โ†’

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.07555 $0.07555
Opus 5 $0.03778 $0.03778
Sonnet 5 $0.01511 $0.01511
Haiku 4.5 $0.00756 $0.00756

Measured 2d ago against content hash 3b52da359112, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

agentharness GEMINI.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories โ€” prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency โ€” measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Origin

95% identical to agentharness copilot-instructions.md โ€” 31 lines differ, which has more behind it and is treated as the original. This page carries a canonical link to it rather than competing with it.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing โ€” 438 lines โ€” stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

GEMINI.md

Generated from this repo's own CLAUDE.md by tools/generate-gemini-md.sh (https://github.com/andr-ca/agentharness) โ€” do not hand-edit; regenerate instead (tools/generate-gemini-md.sh --output GEMINI.md). A CI check keeps this file in sync with its source (see .github/workflows/ci.yml's content-quality job).

This file covers repo-wide routing rules only. Skills are loaded on demand from .agents/skills/ โ€” Gemini CLI's real skill mechanism (the Agent Skills open standard, shared with Claude Code) injects every enabled skill's name/description metadata into the system prompt at session start, then loads a skill's full body only once its description matches the task at hand (via its activate_skill tool). Google Antigravity reads this same filename and gives it precedence over AGENTS.md when both exist. The index below exists so that metadata-scan step has something to match against; it is not a substitute for reading the matched SKILL.md itself.

Gemini CLI also supports /memory show (inspect the concatenated context) and /memory refresh (force a re-scan) if this file changes mid-session.

agentharness โ€“ Agent Router

This file is loaded into every session that touches this repo. Keep it short โ€” everything else is one link away. Full index: MANIFEST.md. Planned-but-not-built: ROADMAP.md.

๐Ÿค– Agent Workflow Completion

Default (no publish authority): verify and stage, then stop.

  1. โœ… Run the completion gate โ€” before declaring any work done, run bash tools/check-completion.sh. This script verifies lint, types, tests, coverage, and content quality in one shot and exits non-zero if anything fails. The Stop hook in .github/hooks/completion-gate.json and .claude/settings.json enforces this automatically for Claude Code and GitHub Copilot โ€” the agent cannot stop until all gates pass.
  2. โœ… Create atomic commits locally โ€” one logical unit per commit, clear message explaining WHY
  3. ๐Ÿ›‘ Stop before pushing, opening a PR, or auto-implementing recommendations. Present a summary of what's staged and ask the user to confirm before publishing anything.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
