Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00835 | $0.00835 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00417 | $0.00417 |

Grade A, and why
google-trends-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 125 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Project Overview
This is a Google Trends MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that provides access to Google Trends data through the RapidAPI Google Trends Scraper API. The server implements three main endpoints:
- Status: Check API health and status
- Questions: Get trending questions from Google Trends
- Trending: Get currently trending topics from Google Trends
Commands
Development
# Install dependencies
npm install
# Build TypeScript
npm run build
# Run in development mode with auto-reload
npm run dev
# Run the compiled server
npm start
Testing
# Run all tests
npm test
# Run specific test suites
npm run test:unit # Unit tests only
npm run test:integration # Integration tests only
npm run test:watch # Watch mode
# Run tests with coverage
npm test -- --coverage
# Run a single test file
npm test -- tests/integration/search.test.ts
# Run tests matching a pattern
npm test -- --testNamePattern="should search for"
# Run tests with single worker (useful for debugging)
npm test -- --maxWorkers=1
Architecture
MCP Server Structure
The server is built using the Model Context Protocol SDK and follows this pattern:
-
Main Server Class (
src/index.ts):GoogleTrendsMcpServerencapsulates all functionality- Uses
StdioServerTransportfor communication - Registers handlers for
ListToolsRequestSchemaandCallToolRequestSchema - Each tool handler makes API calls and returns formatted responses
- Uses
-
API Integration Pattern:
makeApiRequest(): Centralized method for all API calls with consistent headers- Each handler (status, questions, trending) follows the same pattern:
- Make API request to Google Trends API
- Normalize response to match TypeScript types
- Return formatted MCP response
-
Type System (
src/types.ts):- Separate interfaces for parameters (
StatusParams,QuestionsParams,TrendingParams) - Response types for Google Trends data structures
- Flexible types to accommodate API response variations
- Separate interfaces for parameters (
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

google-trends-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository andrewlwn77/google-trends-mcp (28 stars, last pushed 1y ago), licensed MIT. It adds 835 tokens to every session, about $0.0042 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
