redux-saga-skill: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

redux-saga-skill AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from anivar/redux-saga-skill. It costs 3,440 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A coding guide for redux-saga, a Redux tool that coordinates background work such as data requests, cancellation, and concurrent tasks in JavaScript applications.

In plain words
What is it for?
Writing, testing, and debugging redux-saga workflows with Redux Toolkit.
Why use it?
It prevents common saga mistakes, such as forgetting to yield an effect and freezing the application.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.03440 $0.03440
Opus 5 $0.01720 $0.01720
Sonnet 5 $0.00688 $0.00688
Haiku 4.5 $0.00344 $0.00344

Security

Grade A, and why

redux-saga-skill AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Redux-Saga — Complete Guide

This document is for AI agents and LLMs to follow when writing, reviewing, or debugging redux-saga code. It compiles all rules and references into a single executable guide.

Baseline: redux-saga 1.5.1 with Redux Toolkit (configureStore)

Abstract

Redux-Saga is generator-based middleware for managing complex side effects in Redux applications. Use it for workflow orchestration — parallel tasks, cancellation, racing, channels, and long-running background processes. For data fetching, prefer RTK Query. For simple async, prefer createAsyncThunk. For reactive slice logic, prefer createListenerMiddleware.

1. Effects & Yielding

Impact: CRITICAL

Rule: Always Yield Effects

Every effect creator must be yielded. Missing yield creates a synchronous infinite loop that freezes the app.

// INCORRECT — app freezes
while (true) {
  const action = take('REQUEST')
  call(fetchData, action.payload)
}

// CORRECT
while (true) {
  const action = yield take('REQUEST')
  yield call(fetchData, action.payload)
}

Rule: Use call() for Async Functions

Never call async functions directly. Use yield call() for testability, cancellation, and middleware control.

// INCORRECT — not testable, not cancellable
const user = yield api.fetchUser(id)

// CORRECT
const user = yield call(api.fetchUser, id)

call() returns a plain object describing the call — an instruction the middleware executes, not the call itself. Tests use deepEqual against the same effect creator instead of mocks.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
