AGENTS.md

news-api-skills AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from apitube/news-api-skills. It costs 425 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for maintaining the APITube News API skill. APITube is a service that provides worldwide news articles through a web API, and the instructions define how its agent-facing documentation should be checked and edited.

In plain words
What is it for?
They guide verification of API parameters, endpoints, fields, limits and error codes, as well as the skill's folder and description.
Why use it?
They reduce errors caused by trusting outdated documentation or recording unverified API details.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00425 $0.00425
Opus 5 $0.00212 $0.00212
Sonnet 5 $0.00085 $0.00085
Haiku 4.5 $0.00042 $0.00042

Measured 6d ago against content hash 036a396d1d03, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

news-api-skills AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Not a fault in itself. Listed so you know the mod talks to something, and to what.

What it actually says

AGENTS.md

Guidance for AI agents working in this repository.

What this repository is

The official SKILL.md for the APITube News API. The skill is a folder under skills/ containing a single SKILL.md: YAML frontmatter with name and description, then markdown instructions.

skills/
  apitube-news-api/SKILL.md

There is no build step, no dependencies and no executable code. That is deliberate: this file is read by agents that act on it, and a skill that ships scripts is a skill users have to audit.

Rules for editing

  1. Every parameter, endpoint, field name, limit and error code must be verified by running it against https://api.apitube.io. If you cannot confirm it, leave it out. A wrong parameter name sends an agent into a retry loop.
  2. Do not trust the docs over the API. Several documented behaviours do not match the running service; the skill records the real behaviour and says so explicitly.
  3. name in the frontmatter must match the folder name. Agents install by folder and dispatch by name.
  4. description is the routing signal. It is the only thing an agent sees before deciding to load the skill, so it must say what the skill does and when to reach for it.
  5. Do not put an API key in an example. Use YOUR_API_KEY.
  6. Keep examples runnable. A curl line should work after substituting the key.

Source of truth

The API's real behaviour, in order of authority:

  1. https://api.apitube.io — run the request
  2. https://docs.apitube.io — the reference
  3. https://api-reference.apitube.io/openapi.json — the OpenAPI spec

Where the skill and the docs disagree, the API wins and both should be corrected.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
