.github/copilot-instructions.md

cad-cae-copilot copilot-instructions.md is an instructions file for GitHub Copilot from armpro24-blip/cad-cae-copilot. It costs 323 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of instructions for GitHub Copilot work in the aieng workspace, a project for building computer-aided design and engineering models. It defines which tools and project guides agents must use.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps agents start sessions correctly, inspect projects and context, create CAD geometry, and review changes using the workspace's required process.
Why use it?
It keeps agents from relying on outdated code or unsuitable diagnostic methods and directs them to the live modeling system.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00323 $0.00323
Opus 5 $0.00161 $0.00161
Sonnet 5 $0.00065 $0.00065
Haiku 4.5 $0.00032 $0.00032

Measured 8d ago against content hash bde3c335254e, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

cad-cae-copilot copilot-instructions.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

GitHub Copilot — aieng Workspace

The full agent guide is the canonical AGENTS.md at the workspace root. Read it before acting.

Essentials

  • Drive the workbench via the aieng-workbench MCP server (configured in .vscode/mcp.json in this repo). If it is not in your tool list, connect to it before doing anything else.
  • First calls: aieng.agent_readmeaieng.list_projectsaieng.agent_context.
  • Do NOT browse aieng/src/ to learn capabilities — it is a legacy FakeBackend. The real CAD engine is cad.execute_build123d (build123d / OpenCASCADE).
  • Do NOT diagnose the backend with pylanceRunCodeSnippet, subprocess, or psutil. If the backend at http://127.0.0.1:8000 is down, ask the user to start it (conda activate aieng311 && uvicorn app.main:app --reload --port 8000 from aieng-ui/backend).
  • Before reviewing a PR — including your own, before opening it — read aieng.guide {topic: "review"}. It names the six defect patterns this codebase actually produces, each with the question that detects it and the measured instance behind it. Every one of them shipped through green CI.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
